Bryan Danielson is back in the ring… sorta.
Danielson made a surprise appearance during Wednesday’s AEW Collision tapings in Kent, Washington. The Collision tapings took place after Dynamite aired live on TNT/Max.
Danielson, who grew up nearby in Aberdeen, came to the ring to answer Max Caster’s Best Wrestler Alive Open Challenge. Danielson entered the ring with “The Final Countdown” blaring in the arena. However, he was dressed in his street clothes for the “match.”
It’s technically a match, although it didn’t go very long. Paragon’s Adam Cole, who was also in the ring at the time, superkicked Caster in the face. This allowed Danielson to make Caster tap out immediately to the LeBell Lock.
The match was most likely a dark match segment that won’t air on TV. Cole was already in the ring with Daniel Garcia, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly because they were in the main event segment of Collision, which airs on Thursday, June 26 this week (full spoilers here).
This is the first time Bryan Danielson has technically competed in an AEW match since October 2024, when he lost the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley at AEW WrestleDream. That loss also meant Danielson was done as a full-time competitor. However, he has left the door open on making other sporadic appearances. Danielson also made a run-in after AEW Grand Slam: Mexico went off the air.
