  • 4-Way for the #1 spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet: Willow Nightingale vs. Athena vs. Thunder Rosa vs. Kris Statlander
  • 4-Way for the #1 spot in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong vs. Bandido
  • Kota Ibushi vs. Trent Beretta
  • We’ll hear from The Hurt Syndicate

AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of Dynamite kicks off with Toni Storm and Luther walking the backstage area until Mercedes Moné blindsided Storm and beat her down, and dragged her out onto the stage, putting her in the Moné Maker until referees and Mina Shirakawa came out to separate the two women.

The Young Bucks appear on the Tron and announce that Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay were scheduled to compete in tag action later in the show, but they changed it up, and they will compete right now.

Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Blake Christian and Lee Johnson

  • The finish of the match saw Swerve Strickland hit Blake Christian with a House Call to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland

After the match, Strickland and Ospreay tried to go after the Young Bucks, who were watching the match on the stage, but they were stopped by a wall of security. Strickland challenges the Young Bucks to a tag match at All In: Texas. Ospreay wants to up the stakes and tells the Bucks to put their EVP titles on the line. Strickland hits a Swerve Stomp on security, and the Bucks run away to the backstage area.

Grade: A-

Really fun opening match. A nice showcase for the tag team of Strickland and Ospreay heading into All In: Texas. While I still believe Ospreay should be the one challenging Moxley next month, this will be a fun tag match with the Young Bucks, regardless.

A video package airs of Kota Ibushi’s surprise return Saturday night on AEW Collision.

Can The Elite and the Don Callis Family work together?

Backstage, the Young Bucks suspend Swerve Strickland for a week without pay for putting his hands on AEW employees. Kazuchika Okada comes in and brings in some of the Don Callis Family with him. The Bucks basically tell Okada to be careful with Callis, but think this pairing could work. As people walk away, we are left with Takeshita and Okada. Takeshita reminds Okada that this alliance is temporary before they both walk away.

Kota Ibushi vs. Trent Beretta (w/ Rocky Romero)

  • The finish of the match saw Kota Ibushi hit Trent Beretta with a V-Trigger to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kota Ibushi

After the match, Kazuchika Okada made his way to the ring and faced off with Ibushi. Okada was the one to back down.

Grade: B+

Very good match. This was the best Ibushi has looked in a long time. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and be around in AEW for many years to come.

Jon Moxley speaks…

We hear from Jon Moxley backstage, sitting on a flight of steps. Moxley says Hangman Page is afraid to become what he needs to be. Mox says Hangman makes him sick and he has zero sympathy for his crybaby emo crap. Moxley says at All In, he’ll show Page what a World Champion looks like, and Hangman can start looking for a new job.

Ricochet and AR Fox vs. Speedball Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight

  • The finish of the match saw Ricochet walk out on AR Fox, which led to Kevin Knight hitting Fox with a UFO Splash to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: JetSpeed

After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews JetSpeed on the stage, and they challenge The Hurt Syndicate to a match at All In: Texas. The Hurt Syndicate jump JetSpeed and beat the hell out of them. Lashley puts both men through a table. MVP gets on the microphone and says to bring Lashley and Benjamin their titles so they can make their way to the ring.

Grade: A-

This was a very fun tag match. While I wasn’t immediately sold on Bailey being a tag team guy this early in his AEW career, this team really works for me. I wouldn’t be upset if these two won the tag titles from the Hurt Syndicate.

More from The Hurt Syndicate

The Hurt Syndicate are in the ring. MVP says he’s begging for someone to stand up for the AEW World Tag Team Champions. Porter says if JetSpeed can get up after the beating they received, he will give them a title shot against The Hurt Syndicate at All In: Texas.

MJF says he’ll be in a qualifying match for the Casino Gauntlet next week on Dynamite, and when he wins, he’ll be one step closer to regaining the AEW World Championship. Mark Briscoe comes out and says the producer backstage told him MJF was taking too much time and asked him to come out and ask him to leave so they can get to the next match.

MJF runs down Briscoe and tells him he should leave because if he gets in the ring, he’s going to lose. Briscoe says he sees right through MJF, and the word of the day is empathy. Briscoe believes MJF’s hurtful comments come from him compensating for something. MJF flips out, and MVP tries to calm him down and says they’ll leave and watch Briscoe do what he does best, lose.

4-Way for the #1 spot in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong vs. Bandido

  • The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe hit Roderick Strong with the Froggy Bo to win the match.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

Grade: B+

Very fun four-way. And with the promo before the match, it was kinda hard not to give Briscoe the win here. He’s one of the hardest workers in AEW week in and week out, so this was a well-deserved win.

Adam Cole issues an open challenge for AEW Collision

Adam Cole is backstage and issues an open challenge for the TNT Championship against any member of the Don Callis Family tomorrow night on Collision.

4-Way for the #1 spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet: Willow Nightingale vs. Athena vs. Thunder Rosa vs. Kris Statlander

  • The finish of the match saw interference from Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir with Willow Nightingale, which allowed Kris Statlander to hit Nightingale with Staturday Night Fever to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Grade: A-

I didn’t love the finish, but from a storyline perspective, I get it. The match itself, I thought, was very good, and it was nice to see Athena and Thunder Rosa on Dynamite as the two seemingly don’t get a lot of chances to perform on this show nowadays. Hopefully, that changes soon.

FTR and Stokely Hathaway are backstage. They want to have a conversation with The Outrunners in the ring tomorrow night on Collision.

Hangman Page vs. The Beast Mortos

  • The finish of the match saw Hangman Page hit The Beast Mortos with the Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Hangman Page

Grade: A

After the match, the lights go out, and when they come back on, the Young Bucks are in the ring and hit Hangman Page with the EVP Trigger. This brings out the Death Riders. Jon Moxley chokes Hangman with a chain. It takes The Opps and Will Ospreay to send the Death Riders and the Bucks packing as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

I thought this was a fun show. A lot of good wrestling combined with some good build for multiple matches at All In: Texas next month. That’s very important right now as AEW continues to gear up for its biggest show of the year. Let’s see if they continue the momentum tomorrow with Collision.

Grade: A-
