WWE NXT crowned a new Heritage Cup Champion after Noam Dar was forced to give up the title due to injury.
Noam Dar was originally set to defend the Heritage Cup against Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. However, an injury prevented him from competing, forcing him to relinquish the title. As a result, NXT General Manager Ava changed the match and announced that Stacks would face a new opponent to crown a new Heritage Cup Champion.
This was a tough moment for Dar, who had just returned from a long leg injury in April and recently won the Heritage Cup back from Lexis King. With no opponent initially announced for Stacks. Earlier this week, Luca Crusifino revealed that he had spoken with Ava and confirmed that Stacks would now face Tony D’Angelo for the vacant Heritage Cup title.
On WWE NXT, Tony D’Angelo scored the first fall of the match, but Stacks tied it up after help from his entourage. Luca Crusifino came out to support D’Angelo, but things didn’t go as planned. In the final moments, Stacks’ crew tried to interfere again. One of them attempted to hit D’Angelo with a bucket, but Crusifino stepped in to stop it.
As Crusifino and the attacker struggled over the bucket, Crusifino accidentally hit Tony D’Angelo in the back. Stacks quickly took advantage, hitting a knee to the back of Tony’s head to win the match and become the new NXT Heritage Cup Champion, making the final score 2-1.
