The new year kicked off in a major way for WWE. On January 1, the Day 1 edition of Monday Night Raw fans were elated to see the return of The Rock.
The People’s Champion didn’t just return to make the Day 1 edition of Raw special. He came with an agenda. After taking out former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jinder Mahal, The Great One teased a match in the future with The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. The Rock mentioned that he wants to sit at the Head of the Table.
During the latest episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast, Tommy Dreamer shared his thoughts on the return of the Great One.
“WWE did it amazingly. The setup was perfect. I loved the physicality Then drops the line, ‘Maybe I’ll sit at the head of the table.’… It’s explosive. They did it perfect. I can’t even call it a home run, it was a grand slam,” Tommy Dreamer said. [H/T Wrestling Inc.]

The Rock versus Roman Reigns was initially planned for last year’s WrestleMania 39
A few weeks ago, The Rock was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show. During the episode, The Great One revealed that there were plans for him and Reigns to face each other at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
“The Rock headlining WrestleMania with Roman Reigns, SoFi Stadium, that was locked. We were doing it. We were doing it. But let me just tell you. So about in the beginning of 2022, Nick Khan, very good friend, he was very instrumental in bringing Vince and I together. We all flew to LA. We met, we sat, this is the beginning of 2022. We broke out the Teremana, we toasted life, we toasted the business we love. About an hour later, we started talking about the potential of this match could be between myself and Roman Reigns headlining WrestleMania, SoFi.
“We shook hands and we hugged right there, all three of us at the table, and said let’s do this. So then we had a year to really think about this. So the North Star thought was, okay, let’s not do something good, let’s not do something great. Let’s do something unprecedented. It was in what can we create for the fans that has never been done before. A match, great. Roman, incredible athlete. He’s gonna be on Mount Rushmore. Super handsome, good dude, my cousin, family, amazing. We can have the match, but the bigger thought was what can we do for the fans and the business that we love where WrestleMania isn’t the end of something, it’s actually the beginning of something bigger,” The Rock said.
