Here’s Why WWE SmackDown Went Off The Air

WWE SmackDown went through some technical difficulties this afternoon as the show aired live on Netflix Friday afternoon from Saudi Arabia.

Those who watched the international stream of WWE SmackDown this afternoon on Netflix were interrupted by a 30-minute stretch where the show went off the air very early into a segment between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. So what caused this issue to take place?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, there was a power loss in Riyadh that affected WWE’s control room and gorilla position. This completely took down the company’s production for quite some time.

While many online believed this was a Netflix issue, it came directly from the venue itself and Netflix wasn’t at fault for this hiccup taking place.

SmackDown eventually went on as scheduled, but they never retaped the segment between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton during the international broadcast. While we would imagine this is something WWE chose to film after SmackDown went off the air, we can’t be certain until the show airs on USA later this evening.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
