WWE SmackDown Results:
This week’s episode of SmackDown kicks off with Cody Rhodes making his way to the ring to speak to the WWE Universe. Before Cody can talk, he’s interrupted by Randy Orton, who also makes his way to the ring.
Orton asks the fans if they watched RAW on Monday and puts over the match between Rhodes and Jey Uso. Orton says if that match isn’t in the running for match of the year at the Slammys later this year, something is wrong.
At this point, the feed cut out, and we are now in a commercial break, not really sure what’s happening here.
An untimely delay…
WWE has acknowledged the outage, and the broadcast should return soon. It doesn’t seem like we’re going to miss anything, as the show stopped when the feed dropped.
To our international audiences watching #SmackDown on Netflix: We apologize for any technical difficulties and should be back up and running shortly.
— WWE (@WWE) June 27, 2025
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett come back and apologize for the issues. Cole jokes that he’s sorry the first face we had to see was Barrett. Barrett says this never happens when Joe Tessitore is on commentary and asks him to come back. It appears we’ll revisit the promo between Cody and Randy later?
Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo are backstage. Sikoa is hyping JC up for his match against Jimmy Uso. That match is next.
Jimmy Uso vs. JC Mateo (w/ Solo Sikoa)
- The finish of the match saw JC Mateo hit Jimmy Uso with the Tour of the Islands to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: JC Mateo
After the match, Sikoa helps Uso up and asks him to rejoin the family again, and offers a hug. Jimmy teases doing it, but slaps Sikoa instead. Mateo attacks Jimmy from behind, and they beat him down until Jacob Fatu hits the ring to even the odds. Uso and Fatu have a staredown, Jimmy shoves Jacob out of the way from an attack by Solo, and gets him with a superkick.
Grade: B+
Good match, I’m sure the fans were getting restless from the 30-minute break. This was a good match to get things going again.
The survival of the tag team division
DIY is backstage preaching to the rest of the SmackDown tag team division, stating that if the Wyatt Sicks win the titles tonight, the division will not survive. Nick Aldis comes in and gives DIY grief for what they are doing and sets up a tag match later in the show where DIY will face Andrade and a partner of his choosing.
We get quick video vignettes in succession from Giulia and Zelina Vega hyping their title match. It’s happening next!
WWE Women’s United States Championship: Zelina Vega (c) vs. Giulia
- The finish of the match saw Giulia hit Zelina Vega with the Northern Lights Bomb to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: And NEW Women’s United States Champion, Giulia
Grade: B+
The first title change of the weekend. I have to admit this wasn’t very surprising. It never felt like WWE was really doing anything with Vega’s title reign, so Giulia getting the title so early on the main roster doesn’t surprise me. It’s clear the company has big plans for her.
As the world of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair turns
Charlotte Flair confronts Alexa Bliss backstage and says she doesn’t need her help and isn’t trying to be friends. Bliss says she’s not trying to be friends with her, but it couldn’t hurt for the two of them to be on the same page out of convenience. Bliss walked away, and Flair seemed intrigued by that proposal.
Wade Barrett tries to keep things civil
Wade Barrett is in the ring and introduces the participants in the Queen of the Ring finals, Jade Cargill and Asuka. Barrett asks Jade what makes her so confident that she’ll defeat Asuka tomorrow. Cargill says when people see Asuka, they get nervous, but she sees her as an opportunity to prove why she came here. Cargill says she doesn’t plan to just take the title at SummerSlam; she plans to take the whole world.
Asuka says Cargill is strong, but power isn’t everything. Asuka has skills and experience, and says no one is ready for her. Cargill says she’s going to regret something, but before we can find out what she will regret, they are interrupted by Naomi.
Naomi says her briefcase means they can fight over the crown, but she has all the power. She says she might cash in tonight after the Last Woman Standing match, or perhaps she’ll wait until after the Queen gets their title shot. Naomi says she can’t help but think about how sweet it would be to ruin the biggest night of Cargill’s career.
Cargill pushes Asuka out of the way to try to get to Naomi, but Asuka doesn’t take kindly to this and takes Jade down with a series of strikes, laying her out.
The issues between Aleister Black and Ron Killings continue
Backstage, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis are having a discussion, teasing the future of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Aleister Black comes in and seems to be asking for a redo of the match that didn’t happen last week because of R-Truth’s interference.
Ron Killings interrupts Black again and tells Pearce and Aldis he wants John Cena after what happened last week. Aldis tells Truth that Cena is there for CM Punk, not him. Killings storms out, and Aldis tries to apologize to Black, who storms off to seemingly follow after Killings.
DIY vs. Andrade and Rey Fenix
- The finish of the match saw Andrade hit Ciampa with The Message to score the pinfall victory for his team.
Winners: Andrade and Rey Fenix
Grade: A-
Well this match freaking ruled! I don’t think Andrade and Fenix have ever tagged before, but it looks like they’ve been teaming forever. That was a ton of fun. Great match!
A video package airs hyping tomorrow’s match at Night of Champions between John Cena and CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Ron Killings hijacks the show again and calls out John Cena. Aleister Black gets in the ring behind Truth and hits him with Black Mass, giving him a receipt for the past two weeks.
The Street Profits are ready for the Wyatt Sicks
Byron Saxton is backstage with the Street Profits. Montez Ford says it’s been four years since they’ve been Tag Team Champions, and anyone thinking they are taking those titles from them is crazy. Angelo Dawkins says they are defending the titles against the Wyatt Sicks because they are their only threat. B-Fab approaches and tells them that she has their back tonight if they need her.
Damian Priest confronts Aleister Black backstage about attacking R-Truth from behind. Black says as far as he’s concerned, they are even now. Priest says next time he wants to confront Truth, do it to his face, and things will be different. Black whispers something to Priest and walks away. Carmelo Hayes comes in and suggests that Priest mind his own business and let Truth fight his own battles. Priest tells Hayes to walk away, and he does.
WWE Tag Team Championship: Street Profits (c) vs. The Wyatt Sicks
- The rest of the SmackDown tag team division surrounds the ring for this match. The finish saw the tag teams get involved, which led to the match being thrown out.
Winners: No contest
After a wild brawl, the only people left standing were the Street Profits, Uncle Howdy, and Nikki Cross.
Grade: C+
This wasn’t great. It didn’t have a ton of time to even have a chance to get good before all the interference happened. Glad this occurred on a WWE SmackDown and not on a premium live event.
Are Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso on the same page?
Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu meet up in the parking lot. They both say they didn’t need each other’s help. Usos says he helped out of respect, and Fatu is doing to Sikoa what he should have done a long time ago. Fatu says if Jimmy gets in where he fits in, they’re gonna be just fine.
WWE Women’s Championship Last Woman Standing: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Nia Jax
- The finish of the match saw Naomi try to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase, but Tiffany Stratton stopped her. Eventually using Naomi’s briefcase on Nia Jax to knock her off the apron and through two tables. Jax couldn’t answer the count of ten, allowing Stratton to win the match.
Winner: And still WWE Women’s Champion, Tiffany Stratton
Grade: A-
I really enjoyed this match. Stratton works incredibly well as the babyface trying to fight from underneath. Naomi’s attempted cash-in at the end took away from this match being even better because it made zero sense from a logical standpoint. Naomi should have just waited for the match to be over. It really made her look stupid.
John Cena goes face-to-face with CM Punk
John Cena comes to the ring and tells Saudi Arabia this is what a winner looks like. Cena says he’s a winner and CM Punk is a loser. CM Punk comes out to Cena’s old “Thug Life” theme, wearing his own version of the retro Cena rap attire.
CM Punk says this is basic Punkanomics. Punk says Cena plagiarized his pipebomb, so he’s taking his word life. Punk absolutely roasts Cena with a vintage word life promo that I would encourage you to go out of your way to check out. Cena looks flabbergasted and is given no chance to respond as WWE SmackDown goes off the air.

WWE SmackDown Review:
While we never got the redo of the opening segment between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, I thought it was a very strong show heading into Night of Champions tomorrow. I would assume the live crowd will get the redo of Orton and Rhodes, and it will be shown in its entirety later tonight. We got a lot of good in-ring action with a title change and some strong build to tomorrow’s event.
Grade: B+
