Shotzi pitched having the first women’s casket match in WWE.
Former WWE Superstar Shotzi Blackheart recently appeared on Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds podcast to discuss her stint with the company. There, she mentioned her unsuccessful pitch for a women’s casket match.
“I had been pitching to WWE to have a casket match since I started hosting Halloween Havoc and it never happened, Shotzi said. “No girl had ever done a casket match and I wanted to be the first. I made that clear for so many years. You’ll definitely see me in a casket match.” [H/T Fightful]
Shotzi wanted to incorporate horror elements into her WWE character
The pitch for the first-ever women’s casket match in WWE wasn’t the only idea Shotzi brought to creative. As she revealed during her interview with WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard, she wanted her WWE character to have a spooky edge inspired by her love of horror films.
“Yeah, I definitely wanted to play with my character,” Shotzi said. “And it just never happened. That also has to do with not being on TV too much. So, I never really got to develop my character in any new direction. But yeah, that is definitely something that I had pitched many times. Especially since I hosted Halloween Havoc so many times. I just thought I was a natural pick to become a more of a spooky character. It just was never in my cards, I guess.”
Shotzi shared some of the personality traits she wanted to add to her WWE character, including an iconic horror movie that inspired her. Read here for her full answer.
Shotzi Blackheart also made her MLW debut last night at the promotion’s Summer of the Beasts event. The show is available in its entirety on YouTube.
