AEW Summer Blockbuster Results:
This week’s Summer Blockbuster special kicks off with Hangman Page speaking with Christopher Daniels backstage. Daniels reminds Page of the numbers game he’s walking into at All In: Texas and believes it would be a good idea for him to rectify his issues with some people in the locker room before the match. Page walks away, and it’s shown that Jon Moxley was listening in and sends the Death Riders after Page.
.@facdaniels offers some advice to Hangman Adam Page… but the eyes of the Death Riders are always watching.

Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana)
- The finish of the match saw time expire, resulting in no winner.
Winner: 30-minute time limit draw
After the match, Strickland gets on the mic and asks Ospreay for sudden death so there can be a winner. Ospreay agrees, but the Death Riders make their way to the ring and surround Strickland and Nana in the ring.
After all of that, the Death Riders are here to pick at the bones of @SwerveConfident and @WillOspreay …

The Young Bucks hit the ring and attack Strickland from behind, laying him out with an EVP Trigger. They superkick Nana and handcuff Swerve to the ropes.
Matt and Nick bring out Swerve’s sneakers with tacks on them. They are gonna hit Strickland, but when they go to do it, Ospreay jumps in front of them and eats the shot. The Bucks look shocked and leave as doctors attend to Ospreay.
WAIT A MINUTE! @WillOspreay just took the shot for @SwerveConfident from the @YoungBucks!

Getting matches like this on free TV makes me grateful to be a wrestling fan. What a joy this was to watch. Although I expected this to go on much later in the show, I can’t complain about a show kicking off like this. The rest of the show has a lot to live up to now.
Kazuchika Okada says what he thinks of Don Callis
Renee Paquette is backstage with Kazuchika Okada. Paquette asks Okada if he’s ready for Kenny Omega, but before he can answer, he’s interrupted by Don Callis, who wants to know why Kyle Fletcher or Konosuke Takeshita isn’t in this spot instead. Okada threatens Callis by grabbing his finger, and the Don Callis Family surrounds them. Okada calls Callis a bitch and walks off.

Mistico vs. Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson)
- The finish of the match saw Mistico hit Blake Christian with a top rope Spanish Fly to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Mistico
After the match, The Hurt Syndicate come out on the stage. MJF says he was impressed by what he saw from Mistico and challenges him to a match next week at Grand Slam Mexico. Friedman says he looks forward to ripping that dime store mask off his face. MJF says he’ll be wearing the red, white, and blue next week.

MJF gets in the ring and continues to try and talk, and Mistico stops him and cuts a promo in Spanish. Friedman asks MVP what he said and gets angry and says to him he’s not Mistico, he’s sloppy Sin Cara. Mistico attacks MJF, but Lashley and Benjamin save him. They all attack Mistico and try to remove his mask. But Speedball, Knight, and Dorada make the save, setting up the next match of the evening.

This was a nice seamless transition from one match to another. The segment with MJF and Mistico afterward set up their match for next week nicely. And the aftermath brought them right into the next matchup. I dig the format tonight.
The Hurt Syndicate (w/ MVP) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight, and Mascara Dorada
- The finish of the match saw MVP hit Speedball with a cane, which allowed MJF to hit him with a cradle DDT to score the pinfall victory for his team.
Winners: The Hurt Syndicate
After the match, The Hurt Syndicate continue the beatdown. MJF rips off Dorada’s mask. This brings out Mistico, who gets his shots in on MJF before The Hurt Syndicate runs him off.

I guess MJF couldn’t lose this match, but I wanted to see Speedball and Knight win to establish them as future challengers for the tag titles. Now that they lost, not sure they are in line for a future title shot. I’m really curious to see what Lashley and Benjamin will be doing at All In: Texas next month.
What does Hangman Page have to say?
We think Hangman Page is about to make his way to the ring, but he’s tossed out onto the stage by the Death Riders. He’s tied up and his mouth is taped shut. Jon Moxley says he’s sorry about all of this. Moxley says he wants to make sure they can have a real conversation. Mox says All In for Hangman is do or die.

Moxley says Hangman is complicated, and he doesn’t understand him. Mox says he doesn’t know what Page is searching for, but he has four weeks to find it. Moxley says if he can’t find it, he can pack his bags and get out. Page lunges and hits him with a headbutt. The Death Riders take him down and put a chair around his neck, but The Opps hit the ring and make the save for Page.
Hangman says he’s come too far for that to be the best that they’ve got. Page says if he finds any of the Death Riders tonight, he’s taking their heads. Page grabs a chair and goes into the crowd in pursuit of the Death Riders.
The Opps are here and send The Death Riders running!

Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. TayJay
- The finish of the match saw Tay Melo hit Penelope Ford with the Tay-KO to score the pinfall victory for her team.
Winners: TayMelo
After the match, Megan Bayne tries to attack, but TayJay escapes before anything serious can happen.
Grade: B+
Fun tag team match. It’s great to see Tay Melo back. I really hope AEW is seriously considering adding women’s tag titles because I think it would go a long way for the division as a whole.
An epic video package plays, establishing the history between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring for the contract signing between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. He brings both men out to the ring. Schiavone announces that the winner at All In will be crowned the AEW Unified Champion and introduces the new title. It’s beautiful.

Okada signs the contract. Omega says a few words and signs the contract as well. Okada and Omega shake hands, and before anything else can happen, Don Callis comes out with a microphone. Calis says Omega should be ashamed of himself, and this match should involve Fletcher and Takeshita.
Omega tells Callis to cut the shit and he won’t be involved in their match at All In, stating that he’s seen all of his tricks. Callis asks him if he’s seen this one, and Okada attacks Omega from behind with the title. Okada hits him in the stomach with a baton as the crowd chants that Okada sold out to Callis.

Back to the in-ring action
TNT Champion Adam Cole joins the commentary table for the next match.
Kyle Fletcher (w/ Lance Archer) vs. Anthony Bowens (w/ Billy Gunn)
- The finish of the match saw Kyle Fletcher hit Anthony Bowens with a sheer drop brainbuster to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
Grade: B+
Very good match. This was probably the best showing for Bowens in a while. Although the finish of the match was never in doubt, I think Bowens came out of this with a loss looking better than he did going in. Fletcher went over, Bowens got over.
Carlos Cabrera is in the ring and brings out Atlantis and Atlantis Jr. They are interrupted by FTR and Stokey Hathaway. They set up a tag match for Grand Slam Mexico next week. It turns into a big brawl, and a ton of talent gets involved, including Brody King, Adam Cole, Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, and many more.

- The finish of the match saw Toni Storm catch Julia Hart in the big package to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Toni Storm
After the match, Moné attacks Storm but is saved by Mina Shirakawa. But Moné comes back and attacks Shirakawa and tosses her out of the ring before posing with Storm’s championship.

Fun match that wasn’t expected. I don’t believe this match was advertised, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
The Beast Mortos vs. Bandido (w/ The Outrunners)
- The finish of the match saw Bandido hit The Beast Mortos with a top rope Revolution Fly to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Bandido

Back-to-back matches that weren’t advertised, but this match really delivered. This was great stuff! I’d love to see a long feud between these guys.

Hangman Page wants nothing to do with the Young Bucks
Renee Paqutte is backstage trying to get an update on Will Ospreay’s condition. Hangman shows up and asks how Ospreay is doing. Paquette says she doesn’t know. The Young Bucks come in, and Hangman says give him a good reason he shouldn’t take them out right now. The Bucks say they were aiming for Swerve.
The Young Bucks tell Hangman they kept Swerve distracted to give him a clear path in the Owen and now all he has to do is stick the landing and bring the world title back to The Elite. Hangman tells them he never asked for their help or what they did at Dynasty or what they did tonight.
Page tells them to stay out of his business, Ospreay’s business, and Swerve’s business. Hangman says if he burns down another house, it will be because he trapped the two of them in it and storms off. The Bucks say Hangman made his bed and walked away. We see Prince Nana was listening to all of this from the medical room. Nana asks Swerve if he heard that. Swerve says he heard every word.
Hangman Adam Page made it clear—the @youngbucks need to back off.

- The finish of the match saw Thekla lock Queen Aminata in the Death Trap to win the match via submission.
Winner: Thekla
Grade: B+
This was way better than I expected it to be. It was hard-hitting, and they looked like they were really trying to hurt each other in there. Great stuff!
Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne are backstage. Christian Cage and Mother Wayne are nowhere to be found. Sabian presents Wayne with a video package of his run in the Best of the Super Juniors. Sabian says he doesn’t know where he or Wayne would be without Christian.

AEW Summer Blockbuster Review:
Wow! This was a great show. I think it was a step up from last week, too. The women got a better spotlight on tonight’s show, and there were some great matches and in-ring segments to build towards All In: Texas. I know it was a four-hour show, but tonight it didn’t feel like one.
