Despite what you might have heard, Saraya hasn’t had any talks about going back to WWE yet.
The three-time women’s world champion recently announced her departure from AEW, a tenure that lasted more than two years. While speaking to WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Saraya spoke about her future in the wrestling business and touched on the rumors that she’s headed back to WWE.
Despite voicing her interest in that potentially happening, Saraya said she hasn’t actually had any talks with WWE about it yet. Instead, she is focused on getting her outside business interests in order this year.
“That’s something that with this year, I kind of want to get all my business and stuff, deals out the way, like under my name and all that kind of stuff. Because I’m not — people think I’m going back to WWE or whatever, because there’s this huge rumor mill happening right now,” Saraya explained. “But I haven’t spoken to them. At least not right now, I haven’t spoken to them.”
Saraya thinks WWE would be more flexible with her wanting to do outside projects now
One theme in her new book, Hell in Boots: Clawing My Way Through Nine Lives, focused on not wanting to give up her Twitch account during her first run in WWE. When asked if she’d given any thought about how that might be received now, Saraya feels that WWE is more receptive to talent doing outside projects, and believes the company is in a good position with Triple H running things now.
“I’m also focusing on my podcast, acting, all that kind of fun stuff too. I wouldn’t want it to affect my brand. And I feel like WWE now is being more open and receptive to people doing outside stuff. They are much more comfortable with that and are much more accepting of that,” she continued. “I feel like, if I ever did go back, I feel like they would be understanding at this point and kind of let me do my thing.
“But, I’m not trying to do anything crazy, nothing too wild. But I do want to be able to have the freedom to do what I want. That’s so important to me, is to have freedom,” she added. “So, yeah. I feel like with Hunter now in charge too, he’s really great. He is great with his talent. He is understanding, like I said, of things that people want to do outside of wrestling. And I think this new era is probably a lot of fun now.”
