Saraya‘s time in All Elite Wrestling has come to an end.
Per Wesley Stenzel of Entertainment Weekly, Saraya announced her departure from AEW on the upcoming debut of her podcast, Rulebreakers With Saraya, which will premiere on March 27th.
“I’m here to tell you that me and AEW’s relationship has come to an end,” Saraya says in the first ep of the podcast. “I had an amazing time there. There’s no bad blood between us. I had such a magical time.”
Saraya stated that she took time off around the holidays, and she started thinking about her place in wrestling.
“And then I got to thinking — what is there left for me to do in wrestling right now? Right now, there’s really no storylines where I would fit in….”It’s just me thinking that I just don’t fit in right now. I feel like I might be taking someone else’s spot, someone who could be doing something really special.”
Saraya also noted that she wasn’t saying that she would never come back, as she loved the company. However, she said that she was taking a step back and focusing on her other projects.
“That’s not to say I will never come back to AEW — I absolutely love it,” she said. “But I’m taking a little step back and focusing on myself for a bit, and putting my energy into the podcast with all the crew here. What a wonderful crew I have here.”
Saraya Thanks AEW
Saraya then expressed her gratitude and thanked AEW. She spoke highly of Tony Khan and said that anyone who went to work there would enjoy it.
“Thank you, AEW. Thank you to the AEW fans — I loved my f—ing time there,” she said. “Tony’s f—ing awesome. And anyone that goes to work there will just enjoy their time. It’s just great. And I’ll miss the girls’ locker room. I’ll miss you, but don’t be a f—ing stranger! You know where I am. I see some of you outside the company anyway.”
Saraya reiterated her gratitude in a tweet and said that the departure was mutual. She said that she had a blast, and AEW was great.
It’s mutual! But I loved my time at AEW and I had such a blast with the girls there. It’ll hold a special place in my heart. Tony was a great, AEW was great. I feel so lucky to be apart of this family for a couple years.
