Ric Flair still has some friends in the wrestling business.
On Thursday, Ric Flair issued a statement and said he was tired of all the negative remarks about his AEW tenure. Flair’s remarks were seemingly in response to the latest backlash where he reportedly cut a promo at Wednesday’s Rampage tapings and invited “18-28 year-old women [to] come to my hotel room, no boyfriends no husbands.”
Flair said he wants to be by his friend Sting’s side, but he’ll leave if he’s caused any embarrassment to Tony Khan or AEW.
“I am so tired of hearing all this negativity! I don’t need to work, and I don’t need the money. Can’t I simply enjoy being by my dear friend @stinger’s side for the next few months without so much hatred? I know I’m old,” Flair wrote on Instagram. “but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy life! I have earned the right to do whatever I want & I’m exactly where I want to be! I appreciate everything @tonyrkhan, but I’m more than willing to walk away if I am embarrassing you and your company. All I can say is I’m sorry!”
The bottom line…
Now, several big names from the pro wrestling industry have spoken out in support of Flair, telling him to keep having fun and to ignore the online chatter.
Steve Austin: “Ric, I enjoy watching you do all the things you do. And you’re always having fun. Keep doing you. And that’s the bottom line.”
Kevin Nash: “Besides the fact you have earned the right. You wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t drawing fans. You always bring a smile to my face. Go Michigan!”
Titus O’Neil: “Continue to Enjoy your life sir!!! We only have one Life to live and we should not allow others to dictate how great our life is, because who we are can dictate how great the lives of others can be!! #Respect”
Chris Jericho: “Don’t listen to online assholes champ. You’re fuckin Ric Flair. Do what you want. Fuck em…”
Ric Flair and Sting are currently advertised to appear on Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage. It is unclear if Flair’s promo will air as it was originally recorded, or if it will be edited.
