NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2 Hits And Misses

WWE NXT Spring Breakin’ had its week two at the Performance Center in Orlando this week. The show featured top champion Trick Williams and Roxanne Perez among other major stars. Former NXT Tag Team Champions The Street Profits made a cameo as well.

The main event saw Lola Vice and Natalya compete in the first-ever NXT Women’s Underground match. For those who missed out on the show, here’s what went down at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2.

Hit – Opening segment at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2

Trick Williams kicked off NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2. The NXT Champion welcomed the fans to the “Whoop That” Era. He thanked Ilja Dragunov for their epic series of matches. For those unaware, the Mad Dragon was drafted to RAW as part of the 2024 WWE Draft.

Lash Legend showed up with an envelope in her hand. This segment was clearly not PG. Props to the person who suggested putting their real-life relationship on TV because it’s clearly working. Williams will be Meta Four’s guest on Supernova Sessions next Tuesday on NXT.

Miss – Fallon Henley’s heel turn

NXT had been teasing Fallon Henley’s heel turn for weeks. The moment finally arrived at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2. Fallon accompanied Thea Hail to the ring for her match against Jacy Jayne, who was busted wide open in the match.

Thea picked up the win via submission. Her celebration, however, was short-lived as Fallon attacked her. I think Fallon’s heel turn would’ve been effective had Thea fell short of winning the match. Also, why did she drag Thea back to the ring to attack her when she could’ve just hit her from the back?

Hit – Wes Lee is back

Before we talk about this week’s big surprise return, nobody does big-man matches in WWE better than NXT. The triple threat between Oba Femi, Josh Briggs and Dijak tore the house down at Stand & Deliver. Oba would have another banger against Ivar at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2.

The two behemoths absolutely destroyed each other with big, brutal moves. Ivar’s strength and agility complemented Oba’s tenacity and power. The Viking Raider failed to dethrone the Ruler. Following the match, Wes Lee made his surprise return from an injury-related hiatus.

Miss – Underwhelming TV debut for WWE NIL stars

Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe took on the Good Brothers at NXT Spring Breakin’. Tyson and Tyriek would come up short against Gallows and Anderson in a match I thought was underwhelming.

NXT producers need to tell rookies to stop shouting at the top of their lungs after every single move. It’s quite annoying. Tyson and Tyriek are just getting started so, hopefully, we’ll see better performances from them in the future.

Hit – Women’s locker room brings the fight to the ring

NXT General Manager Ava had previously announced a Women’s North American Title for the brand. The fourth-generation superstar had some big news for the fans at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2. Ava said they will crown the first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion in a six-pack ladder match at NXT Battleground.

Jaida Parker interrupted the promo to talk about her plans to win the title. Sol Ruca showed up next. Ariana Grace asked for some decorum. We also saw Michin declare herself as a participant in the tournament. The war of words continued until the entire women’s locker room barged into the ring for a full-fledged brawl.

Miss – Overbooked main event at NXT Spring Breakin’

Lola Vice and Natalya collided in the first-ever NXT Women’s Underground match. This gimmick match headlined NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2. Miss Vice had Shayna Baszler in her corner while Karmen Petrovic watched Natalya’s back.

This would have been a solid main event if not for WWE’s typical overbooking style. The two women took turns throwing each other on the lumberjacks. Vice should’ve won the match clean instead of the distraction angle they did with Natalya and Shayna Baszler.
