Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Toni Storm Retains AEW Women’s Title, Three-Way Confirmed For WWE WrestleMania, Gypsy Mac Interview

Toni Storm retains the AEW Women’s Championship. IYO SKY vs. Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley announced for WWE WrestleMania 41. Gypsy Mac chats with us, and more!

Toni Storm Retains AEW Women’s Title

Two weeks ago, Megan Bayne pinned AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm in tag team competition. At AEW Dynasty, Storm evened the score by pinning Bayne to retain the AEW Women’s Championship. The fight to get there, though, wasn’t easy.

Amidst their title match at Dynasty, Bayne laid in her powerful offense, including a series of suplexes and powerslams. Toward the end, Bayne then looked to finish off Storm with a Fate’s Descent. Storm, however, countered with a roll-up, which managed to keep Bayne down for a three count. With this, Storm secured a win over Bayne and is now nearing 500 cumulative days as AEW Women’s Champion.

Elsewhere at Dynasty, Mercedes Mone battled Julia Hart in the opening round of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament. 24 hours before, Hart handed Mone a rare loss by forcing her tag team partner Harley Cameron to tap out on AEW Collision. Mone, of course, wasn’t down long as she bounced back with a singles victory over Hart at Dynasty, courtesy of a seatbelt pin.

Looking ahead, Mone will face the winner of Athena vs. Harley Cameron in the semi-finals of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Three Matches Confirmed For WWE WrestleMania 41

Initially, IYO SKY was slated to defend her WWE Women’s World Championship against only Bianca Belair, the 2025 Elimination Chamber winner, at WrestleMania 41. After several weeks of complaints and physicality, however, Rhea Ripley has managed to solidify a spot in the title match as well.

WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce made the announcement on this week’s episode of WWE Raw, resulting in a tense staredown between Ripley and Belair. When SKY tried to intervene, Ripley pushed her away, causing SKY to retaliate by nailing both her and Belair with a missile dropkick. Looking ahead, SKY will now put her title on the line in a triple threat involving both Belair and Ripley.

Elsewhere, WWE confirmed a WrestleMania singles match pitting Jade Cargill against Naomi. This comes after Naomi attacked Cargill in November, rendering her unable to compete for months. At Elimination Chamber, Cargill returned and launched a counterattack. Since then, the two have traded physical and verbal jabs.

Finally, a gauntlet match on SmackDown will determine the WWE Women’s Tag Team title challengers for the reigning titleholders, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Teams in the gauntlet include Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, Lyra Valkyria and Bayley, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, B-Fab and Michin, Alba Fyre and Piper Niven, and Natalya and Maxxine Dupri.
