Last Saturday & Sunday was the first camp held at the new ROH Dojo in Baltimore, Maryland. Full disclosure, I had seen videos & pictures of the ROH Dojo prior to my arrival. When I showed up though, I realized the pictures did not do it justice. I loved the facility. The feel. (Keep in mind it was still being updated & worked on). Complete with an entrance way, lights, weights, promo room, lockers…everything a training facility should have and more.
I had been to many camps before but this was different. A bit of nervous energy. Like I haven’t felt before. Was it the new facility? Added coaches? A possible contract? Some doubt the validity in that statement. I am here to tell you I know first hand it can happen. These camps have discovered Matt Taven, Flip Gordon, QT Marshall, Punishment Martinez, LSG, Shaheem Ali, Dalton Castle, Ian Riccaboni, Adam Page & the list goes on and on! So if you got it! You kill it! You deliver! You can and will be signed! No denying that!
I am not going to get into great detail about the coaches, the prospects or the final decisions that were made that weekend. It is not my place to do so. But what I will tell you about is how proud I was of all the prospects. I was impressed with all of the coaches. Some I met for the first time and I felt like I knew them for years. I bumped into many prospects that I had coached at our camps. It was good to see them applying what they learned and improving. I witnessed a roller coaster of emotions plus was taken on my on trip of emotions. Doubt. Fear. Joy. Frustration. Humiliation. Humility. Sadness. Euphoria. From promos, to matches, to coaches. It was all there. The blueprint to not only make it in ROH but to also make it in life.
I could not be any prouder to have been a part of this special day. I look forward to seeing how this progresses and what other stars emerge because of this unique opportunity and training center! The ROH Dojo is the foundation that ROH Wrestling will be built upon for years to come and that from what I’ve seen, that’s sturdy ground!
Thanks for reading. I’m just a guy who loves Professional Wrestling.
