The following editorial was written by Danny Cage and does not reflect the thoughts and feelings of WrestleZone as a whole.

I am a coach. I am a teacher. I am a mentor. I do more than just teach holds, moves or techniques. I take this job very seriously. I have to be tough. I have to be unpopular. I can not be friends with students. I am not here to make everyone feel good about themselves. I will however put our students before me. I will destroy anyone who mistreats them. I will guide them down the right path. I let them know that I am available 24/7 for them. That they can come to me with anything. I reward them for their hard work. I have let many students go months without paying so they could afford other opportunities in Professional Wrestling. I want them to succeed. I want them to do more than just get signed. I want them to become better people. So I am a teacher. I am a coach. They are my students. My job is not to just teach moves, holds or techniques. My job is to teach, coach, and guide them.

There are days I get so frustrated that I want to close the doors and kick everyone out. For good. To see so many students with such unlimited potential squandering it. Just going through the motions. Mailing it in. While I rack my brains on the next step, the next fold I can insert into our training to get our students over the hump. While they worry about what is happening on snapchat or what bar they will go to or movie they will see or how they will get out of our next camp. Not all. But some. But it is the few that want it. That do everything you ask. That communicate and seek advice. Those are the ones that make me keep coming back. I also come back in hopes that I can finally get through to the ones who seem to be just treating this place as a hangout. A frat house. A meeting place before their next trip to Atlantic City. A true teacher/coach never wants to lose a student. No matter the reason.

So on National Teacher Appreciation Day I would like to thank all my teachers and coaches who had an impact on my life. I would also like to thank all the future coaches/teachers that I have yet to learn from. Because in Professional Wrestling you never stop learning. From anyone and everyone you learn. That is why Professional Wrestling is the greatest job in the world. That is why coaching & teaching Professional Wrestling is the most rewarding and frustrating thing I have ever done. I care. So please don’t mistake my demeanor as hatred. I want everyone to succeed and I think everyone can do this. As long as they are coachable and listen to their teachers.

Thanks for listening. I’m just a guy who loves Professional Wrestling.
