Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting Impact Wrestling star EC3 has applied to trademark his ring name in an attempt to legally own it.
According to the report, EC3 (real name Michael Hutter) filed the documents last week, with Impact Wrestling’s recent statements about allowing wrestlers to own their characters being a catalyst for him to make the move.
Anthem’s Ed Nordholm recently stated new talent deals would see a clause allowing Impact stars to keep their characters after they left the company.
According to the trademark application filing (filed on December 15th), EC3 wants to use the name for:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services in the nature of live visual and audio performances by an actor.”
