WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently appeared on Notts TV News and during the interview Big Sexy talked CM Punk’s debut UFC fight.
Nash admitted he had yet to see the fight, as the interview was recorded the night of UFC 203, but he saw the coverage after and Nash said “I guess [Punk is] not the best in the world anymore.”
Nash also talked about Punk’s decision to step into the Octagon, and noted that although he never wrestled him during Punk’s time in pro wrestling, Nash thought he seemed very talent at “what we do”, noting the difference between wrestling and MMA.
Nash was also asked about Punk previously criticizing The Rock for coming back to WWE to take the top spot at WrestleMania, and then Punk himself got a great spot on a UFC PPV card with no previous experience. Nash said the difference between Rock and Punk is that Rock delivered. Nash then also talked about UFC pushing and billing CM Punk as “CM Punk” as opposed to his real name Phil Brooks, so it was clear that UFC was trying to lure the wrestling fanbase into UFC 203. Nash also said he heard CM Punk is under a four fight deal with UFC, meaning he has three fights left on his contract. Punk did note in his post-UFC 203 speech that he did not intend to quit MMA, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future in UFC.
