On who he thinks should win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament at tonight’s Survivor Series:
JD: Owens is good enough talent wise. Owens is good enough talent wise but I can’t picture the corporate machine getting behind him as THE top guy yet. Due to a bunch of reasons. Some viable, some not. I would have Dean Ambrose get the babyface win. If you want to turn Reigns do it the next night on RAW. Do it after the match is over. Whatever the case is. I think the fans that are “in the know” are salivating to see it happen. It’s a little bit telegraphed. In that sense… don’t do it. The tournament should be well served to make a star as best as they can. They need those right now. Dean Ambrose, to me, is the guy.
On whether or not John Cena should turn heel:
JD: Everybody thinks you can just turn John Cena heel and it would fix everything. You know how I would turn John Cena heel? Change nothing. That’s what they’ve done. That’s what has happened.
On the idea of NXT replacing Smackdown when it moves to USA in 2016:
JD: Just having the shows feel different would do a world of difference. I would much rather watch three hours of a RAW feeling show a week than five hours of a RAW feeling show each week. Give me something to embrace and sink my teeth in to. NXT in it’s current state and form… I wouldn’t want to see that as two hours. Again, you can definitely integrate and adjust and meet in the middle and come out with a really sleek, contemporary feeling show. You can just help reeducate and recondition those fans to the type of style and the type of character that is going to push the company ahead in the next few years.
