TNA Star Pulled From Upcoming GFW Events; Karen Jarrett Comments

TNA Superstar Tyrus, formerly WWE’s Brodus Clay, has been pulled from the upcoming Global Force Wrestling live events due to “contractual obligations”.

What’s significant here is that Tyrus was only scheduled for live events, and not GFW’s upcoming television tapings. As far as his contract goes, it’s believed he had every right to work those shows, as TNA stars have the option to pick up independent dates so long as they do not appear on television or – in most cases – on PPV or IPPV.

It was reported last month that Dixie Carter did not want TNA talent working for Jeff Jarrett. Despite that, Tyrus was the only wrestler from the promotion to pick up dates with GFW, and was scheduled to take on Ring of Honor’s Moose in several highly anticipated super-heavyweight bouts later this month.

PWInsider.com is reporting that Tyrus was informed by officials that he was not allowed to work the events, after having been advertised for the last several weeks. The reason given is that TNA stars can’t work for promotions with a TV deal – this is one of those situations where if he wanted to push it legally, he would almost certainly have the high ground, but it comes down to keeping your meal ticket happy.

Not only has GFW not announced a TV deal at this time, but the likelihood that when they do, it will be a major deal with national exposure on a network more visible than Destination America, is very low.

Karen Jarrett took to Twitter around the same time as the former “Funkasaurus” made his announcement.
