We reported earlier today that former WWE and TNA wrestler Brian Kendrick (or “The Brian Kendrick”) was backstage at last night’s NXT Takeover: R Evolution live special, and that he was working a one week try-out to potentially become a new trainer for the promotion.
Kendrick worked a dark match at tonight’s NXT television taping, facing off against popular indie star Sami Callihan, who has been working live shows for WWE as Solomon Crowe.

Kendrick worked for WWE between 2002 and 2008, wrestling in a tag team with Paul London for a number of years. The duo captured tag team titles on two occasions, including a 331 day reign as WWE Tag Team Champions, which stands as the longest run in the belts’ history. Notably, he is listed as an “interim WWE Champion”, as per the rules of a Championship Scramble match, whoever pins the current champion within the allotted time limit becomes the interim champ until pinned, or the match ends.
Brian also worked for TNA between 2010 and 2012 capturing the X-Division championship.
