TNA has debuted a new weekly YouTube series called “I’m with Spud”, which will feature the former “Chief of Staff” Rockstar Spud previewing Impact Wrestling every Wednesday.
Interestingly enough, it looks like former WWE announcer Josh Matthews is working with Spud. He sent out this Tweet Wednesday afternoon:
Check out “I’m With Spud!” Right now on http://t.co/h5lr4TM7eK. Had a great time shooting w/ @RockstarSpud today. #ImWithSpud #IMPACTonSPIKE

Matthews’ exact role with TNA is still largely unknown, although the most recent report indicated that he’s working out of TNA offices in Nashville. He was first spotted at the NYC television tapings earlier in the summer, and it was rumored that he would begin announcing Impact Wrestling at the Bethlehem, PA tapings last week, but obviously that didn’t happen.
Josh Matthews competed in the 2001 season of Tough Enough, and was eventually hired by WWE as a backstage interviewer. He also hosted several online shows, PPV pre-shows and enhancement shows such as Heat and Velocity for many years. He was promoted to the commentary team for the relaunched ECW in 2009, then did color for NXT before becoming an official part of the Smackdown broadcast team alongside Michael Cole, and eventually Booker T. He was released by WWE in June of this year.
