Report by Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com
Dixie Carter comes out with her entourage and says she keeps outsmarting them, and asks what happened to Team 3D and Tommy Dreamer. She says they all want to chant ‘E-C-Dub’ so she will give it to them, and this won’t be the broken down version of the past, but she will give them a big star. She says ‘EC…Three’ is what she means, then he puts over Zeke and Snitsky and says they are part of his army. Ethan says Zeke will not be saddled with a ‘randomly generated name’ anymore and christens him ‘Rycklon’, then he challenges Bully Ray to one final battle. Ethan says this is their house, and Dixie won’t go through a table, but he is going to put Bully, Devon and Dreamer down for good.
BP: Dixie got big heat here, from talking about ECW closing and just from showing up. People really hate her, and Ethan was on point with the insults and one-liners. I laughed at his comment about the name generator, since a lot of WWE names do seem like they are picked that way. (If anyone was curious, Rycklon is Zeke’s real first name.)
TNA World Tag Team Championship
The Hardy Boyz vs The Wolves (c)
Jeff connects with a step over kick before Davey backdrops him, then Matt clotheslines Davey from the apron before he tags in and hits an assisted elbow off the ropes. Matt hits Davey and whips him into the turnbuckles, then Davey clotheslines Jeff and kicks Matt before finally getting a tag. Eddie hits Matt a few times before Jeff knocks him down, then the Hardys go for a double backdrop but Eddie counters with a double hurricanrana to the floor. The Wolves take them out with a suicide dive on the floor, then they both hit Jeff with corner flying forearms before hitting a German suplex / powerbomb combo. Matt runs in and helps Jeff out, throwing the Wolves outside, and Matt assists Jeff with Poetry in Motion outside and Jeff takes both opponents down. Jeff hits another one inside and Matt follows with a Side Effect, then Jeff hits a Swanton but Davey breaks the pin up.
Matt throws Davey outside and hits Eddie with a moonsault for two, then he applies the Ice Pick and Jeff puts Davey in the same move when he tries to interfere. Davey dives and sends Jeff into Matt and Eddie, breaking both holds, then Jeff dives on Davey on the floor before Eddie kicks Matt in the head and they both hit top rope double foot stomps for a two count. Jeff tries to pull Davey outside but Eddie dives on him on the floor, then Matt hits Davey with a Twist of Fate for two before calling for a second. Davey counters with a backslide pin attempt before Matt clotheslines him, then Matt puts him on the turnbuckles and sets up a super Twist of Fate. Eddie runs up and hits Matt with an enziguiri, then Davey headbutts Matt, and Eddie holds Matt in powerbomb position so Davey can hit a mid air Backstabber for the win.
Winners – The Wolves
BP: That was a hell of a match. It was well paced and had a lot of great spots, and they had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands. What a way to kick off tonight’s show.
