Report by Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com
MVP comes out and says what happened at Slammiversary was a disgusting travesty, and he tells Eric Young to get his sorry ass out there. Eric says he is still a champion to believe in, but MVP says he gave Eric the shot in the first place, and Austin Aries colluded with Eric to screw Lashley. Eric says he just wants to come down there and kick his ass, then MVP says Eric would pick on an injured guy instead of fair competition. Kenny King says he wants a shot at Eric because that's what the fans really want, so Eric tells a referee to get out there and do this.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Kenny King vs Eric Young (c)
King gets a few shots in on Eric as Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and The Wolves come to ringside, and they all take seats and make MVP and Lashley back away from the ring. Eric hits King with a forearm shot, then King dropkicks him and hits an exploder suplex for a near fall. King goes for a Royal Flush, but Eric counters with a small package rollup on the way down and gets the win.
Winner – Eric Young
BP: It was pretty short for an opener, but it was fast paced and energetic. Eric gets another clean win which helps him, and we can still continue the feud between MVP and the opposition.
MVP flips out on the timekeeper and says he rang the bell early and King kicked out, then he slaps the timekeeper and demands an apology. Joe, Aries and The Wolves run out and brawl with Lashley and King, then security breaks them up and MVP gets everyone kicked out. MVP says he runs the show and if they want to push him, he will abuse his power like they accuse him of, and Eric is defending his title again. He says Eric will defend against Lashley tonight, then he is making it worse by having the Wolves defend their titles too. He says they will face Aries and Joe, and a third team, then he calls Earl Hebner out to the ring and fires him for his actions on Sunday.
BP: Well, that escalated rather quickly. MVP going all out trying to get what he wants and giving us two potentially good title matches. Well done first quarter of the show.
