WWE Live Event Results
3/22/14
Atlantic City, NJ
Thanks to Thomas R. Davis for sending in the following report:
There's a cage over the ring.
A lot of empty seats in the crowd when the show starts. The place was pretty much packed last year at this time. We were sitting in a section with many scattered empty seats. There were 5 people in front of us, 5 in our row including us, and the rest were empty. So out of 23 seats (two rows of 13) 10 of them were filled. They were giving out a website to upgrade your seats before the show even started.
Fans get a chance to vote on if they want to see Brodus Clay and The Great Khali in a match or a dance off.
Big E Langston defeated Antonio Cesaro and Kofi Kingston in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental title. Fans were mostly behind Big E and Kofi during this match. A pretty decent pop for the Cesaro Swing but the fans seemed split between Big E and Kofi throughout the match. Big E hit the big ending on Cesaro for the win.
The next match featured Heath Slater without the rest of 3MB taking on Sin Cara. A lot of show boating took place early in the match and many of the fans in my area seemed annoyed. Sin Cara hit some of nice aerial offense but the match itself was pretty bland and boring. Sin Cara picked up the win with what looked like a senton bomb.
The current poll results are show. Dance off 49% Match 51%
Divas action next with Naomi facing AJ Lee for the Divas title. Excuse me! Nope, Vickie Guerrero out making it a non-title match because Naomi doesn't deserve a shot at the title. Damn, Vickie's wicked witch laugh is awesome. A pretty decent match for the divas. Naomi picks up the win with the butt bump.
Poll results are in Dance off 51% match 49%. Funny how they magically switched to the opposite of what they were. Either way we lose.
First to dance is Brodus who does what can be described as the pony (or would Brodus be a Brody?) digging at the ground dance. Khali just stands around waving his arms which apparently is way better than Brodus' dancing skills according the Atlantic City crowd. Yeah, we know who's going to win this one. Brodus beats down Khali with the microphone after the dance off, but Khali chops Brodus in the head which lays him out for a good three or four minutes. Brodus eventually gets up and staggers to the back.
Out comes Christian who berates the Atlantic City crowd. Calling Atlantic City a crap hole, and where people go when they're too poor to go to Las Vegas. He's very unhappy with his reception and refuses to perform for us tonight and heads to the back. Weeeeeeellllllllllllll, it's the Big Show who prevents Christian from leaving. Eventually, Christian gets back in the ring and we have a match.
He tries for a handshake, Big Show crushes his hand. He throws a punch, Big Show catches, crushes and then stands on his hand. The match is dominated by Big Show but Christian eventually manages to take him down for a reverse chinlock. Show makes his come back with a big chop in the corner, and then attempts to go for a stinkface in the opposite corner. Christian wisely bails out and circles the ring, as Big Show pats his ass in the ring. After another exchange of Christian getting the advantage and Big Show coming back, Christian decides he's had enough and tries to leave. Big Show catches him with the big wedgie and draws him back towards the ring. Presses him over his head and tosses him over the ropes. Christian begs off. A kick to the leg as he steps over the ropes takes Big Show down. Another back and forth before Big Show hits the knock out punch after Christian brings in a chair, which apparently isn't as effective as Khali's brain chop since Christian is back up in half the time it took Brodus.
Time for an intermission.
Up next, 3MB is out without Heath Slater. Olé! Olé! Olé! it's Los Matadores. We're treated to your typical comedy match early on with both members of 3MB charging the cape like they were a bull. Eventually, we got some decent tag team action ending with Los Matadores picking up the win. An attack after the match leaves El Torito alone with 3MB for more comedy fare as he takes care of them until Fernando and Diego make the save.
The area goes dark and the Wyatts are here. The arena has broken out in love for the Wyatt family. Not very many boos in the crowd at all. The Shield is out next to a decent pop. The match itself was pretty decent with a good deal of brawling. The Wyatts dominate most of the match but the Shield gets their moments in as well. Things break down and Roman Reigns hits the spear for the win.
Kane comes out and out of concern for Daniel Bryan's health tries to cancel the cage match. He says Daniel Bryan will probably say he's well enough to compete which brings out Bryan chanting yes. He asks fans if they want to see a cage match. Yes! He asks if they want to see him kick Kane's ass. Yes! He asks if they want to see him win the title at WrestleMania, Yes! He demands the cage be lowered and it is. Once lowered he asks the referee if they're ready and the ref gives a weak yes. He asks again wanting a better yes.
The match starts and we have a fight. Kane eventually gets the upper hand but it's a pretty back and forth match. Both men tried to escape the cage by climbing over and using the door. A few near falls and the ref took a bump allowing Daniel Bryan to pick up the three but no one was there to count it. Kane goes for the cover, the ref is back up. Near fall. Daniel Bryan hits the Knee Plus for the win. Climbs to the top of the cage. Yes! Yes! Yes!
