HOUSTON – Dreams came true for more than 50 Make-A-Wish Foundation kids during WWE’s “25 Years of Wishes” weekend event at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania last week.
In addition to new World Heavyweight Champion John Cena being appointed a Wish Ambassador, along with the Wish Kids’ visit to the Houston Zoo with CM Punk, Mr. Kennedy, Alicia Fox and Tiffany, the Circle of Champions honorees participated in a special, private meet-and-greet with Big Show, Kelly Kelly, Chris Jericho and Mickie James during WrestleMania Week.
“This is probably one of the best perks of my job,” Big Show told WWE.com. “This one of the behind-the-scenes rewarding things, when you get to meet families like this. The kids are inspired just by meeting us. It’s overwhelming. To be honest, sometimes I have to look in the mirror and wonder if I’m worthy or not to meet these kids. To see the looks on their faces and their smiles, it’s very humbling.”
The Make-A-Wish visit was particularly special for Kelly Kelly because it was her first time meeting some of WWE’s Circle of Champions honorees.
“It’s seriously an honor. These kids are an inspiration. I see them and my heart melts. I love it. I love doing this stuff. I hope to get to do more,” the Diva smiled.
Big Show explained that WWE makes a point to always deliver what the loyal members of the WWE Universe want and deserve.
“WWE is very consistent in giving back to the community. That’s one of the things we strive to do. We do programs like this. We do all kinds of appearances. We’re really in touch with our fans,” the SmackDown Superstar said. “There’s a big difference between us and other professional athletes. We go out of our way to make sure our fans are included in everything we do.”
Kelly Kelly said she thinks it’s important that WWE takes part in charitable endeavors, such as meeting kids through Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“I love that WWE does this stuff. It’s a really great opportunity to meet them and make their dreams come true,” the Raw Diva said.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be here. I’ve never had this feeling,” she continued. “They’re so excited. They’re so excited to meet us. This is their Wish. It’s a great honor and I’m so happy they asked me to do it.”
