WWE RAW Opener: Shaq w/ Announcements, Chris Jericho & Big Show
Lilian Garcia introduces Jerry "The King" Lawler, who is already standing in the ring. Lawler said it his pleasure to introduce the most dominant player in NBA history, Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq makes his way to the ring as Michael Cole introduces the television audience to the show. Shaq got in the ring and told fans that his new teammate LeBron James says hello. The Washington fans boo that. Shaq says he was just kidding. Nice save. Shaq tells us tonight we’ll found out who Randy Orton’s challenger for the title is going to be at the SummerSlam pay-per view. Shaq says there will be a five-man "beat the clock challenge" to determine the number one contender. Those involved in this match will be Triple H, MVP, Jack Swagger, Mark Henry and John Cena. Shaq marked out announcing Cena’s name a little bit. Lawler reminds viewers that one of those five men will be facing John Cena at SummerSlam. Shaq asks everyone if we’re ready for the show. Chris Jericho’s music hits and he comes to the ring dressed in a suit. Jericho tries going nose-to-nose with Shaq but ends up going nose-to-chest. Jericho said he thought Kobe Bryant was here when they said the most dominant NBA player was here tonight. Jericho talks about how Big Show is more dominant than Shaq. Shaq calls Jericho "Christina" and kisses him on the forehead. Jericho reminds Shaq who he is and says if he keeps mocking him, they will have problems. Shaq shooves Jericho’s face away and asks what kind of problems would they have now. Jericho introduces his new tag-team partner, The Big Show. Big Show comes out in a suit and goes face-to-face with Shaq. Big Show tells Shaq he has a better chance of making two free-throws in a row than intimidating him. Shaq challenges Big Show to a match. Big Show said he refused. Jericho says he won’t fight Shaq either. Shaq called them girls and said he knew they were chicken. Shaq says he planned on this happening so he hired two guys to fight them for him. Cryme Tyme come out as Jericho and Big Show take off. Shaq says in that match later tonight, he will be the special enforcer at ringside.
Beat The Clock Challenge:
-Mark Henry vs. Carlito
This is our first of several "beat the clock challenge" matches tonight to determine the number one contender. Michael Cole explains the rules of the challenge one more time on commentary. Carlito ran away from Henry early. Henry basically squashes him and hits the "World’s Strongest Slam" for the pin.
Winner: Mark Henry
Backstage: WWE Divas Match Next
Kelly Kelly, Mickie James and Gail Kim are shown walking backstage towards the ring. Cole and Lawler mention that up after the commercial will be a six-diva tag match.
