Ahmed Johnson has no love lost for Triple H.
Johnson recently spoke with Steve Fall of The Ten Count, where he spoke about his Intercontinental Championship run ending abruptly. WWE hosted a tournament to crown a new champion after Johnson “vacated” the title due to an attack by Faarooq. Now, Johnson joked that he’s still the Intercontinental Champion because he never lost it.
“I mailed it back to them before the tournament. But still, like you said, it was a tournament for the belt. I never lost the belt, so to me, I’m still Intercontinental Champion,” Johnson said. “So whoever got that belt now, give me a call and I’ll step up to the plate.”
Fall joked that it looked like Ahmed Johnson vs. Dominik Mysterio would need to be booked. He noted how WWE was bringing Legends back for events like Saturday Night’s Main Event, so why couldn’t Ahmed get one more big moment in the spotlight?
“Right… because you have a racist pirate at the helm,” Johnson said.
“Hmm… would you like to elaborate on that?” Fall replied.
Ahmed Johnson claims Triple H was jealous of him
“Triple H, he’s a straight-up racist. And like I said, he was very jealous that I came in and got this big push. And he was Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Man, he was just a midcarder,” Johnson said. “I don’t know where he gets off thinking that he was one of the top boys back then, because back then, he wasn’t. It was me, Shawn [Michaels], Stone Cold, Undertaker and Sid. Those were the top guys back then, and Triple H just wasn’t one.”
Johnson and Helmsley worked together several times between 1996 and 1997, including a 1997 King Of The Ring semifinal match won by Helmsley. Another saw Triple H, the second Intercontinental Champion after Marc Mero won the aforementioned tournament, beat Johnson on a December 1996 WWF Superstars taping.
“So at the time, you believed Triple H did not like you, in [1996]?” Fall asked.
“Oh yeah,” Johnson confirmed. “He didn’t like me, he didn’t like me at all. He wouldn’t be where he is today if he didn’t take them steroids. Then they had to put him with Chyna because he wasn’t getting over. They thought Chyna would help him get over, which she did. Chyna helped boost him a little bit. Then he married the boss’s daughter, and the rest is history.”
Fall said that it’s clear Johnson still has issues with “The Game,” but maybe they can work things out one day.
Triple H recently addressed working with Johnson during his appearance on the Flagrant podcast with Andrew Schulz. Triple H said Johnson was terrible in the ring, but a good referee could help overcome those limitations. However, Triple H’s issues with Johnson didn’t stop there.
“He was hurting people, and he was just big — he had an attitude problem,” Triple H said.
