CM Punk praised Liv Morgan and named her his MVP of the year.
Punk appeared on Kevin Hart’s Cold As Balls show at Fanatics Fest this weekend. There, he spoke highly of Liv Morgan’s progress over the past year. He highlighted how she evolved as a performer and stood out in the WWE women’s division.
“Shoutout to Liv Morgan who recently got injured, she was like my MVP for the year. I look at people like Liv who probably started right after I left, 2014-ish, and just from the time I’ve been around her and been able to see her work, just the way she’s developed this last year and just broken out of her shell and turned into this little worker, it kinda warms my heart. I missed her the first part of the journey, but to be here, see her grow into who she’s become. It’s disappointing she got injured, but it’s part of the process, nobody gets out alive is what I like to say, when you do this, it’s just part of the job.” [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
Liv Morgan suffered a separated shoulder during her match against Kairi Sane on WWE RAW. Reports confirmed that the injury will require surgery. The injury comes at an unfortunate time, as Morgan had just begun a feud with Nikki Bella and was rumored to face her at WWE Evolution. It also puts her plans to wrestle in her home state at SummerSlam in New Jersey in doubts.
Kairi Sane comments on Liv Morgan injury
After sustaining the injury, Liv Morgan immediately rolled out of the ring, clutching her arm in visible pain and unable to continue. The referee quickly stopped the match and awarded the victory to Kairi Sane by stoppage.
Following the incident, Sane shared her thoughts on the unfortunate injury on X formerly know as Twitter. “One of the most painful things for me is when a match is decided not by wrestling, but because of an injury. I always step into the ring with deep respect for my opponent, and I train hard every day to give the audience something they can truly enjoy. Even if it was never intentional, knowing that someone was hurt in a match with me is something I carry deeply. It breaks my heart. I hope with all my heart for a full and speedy recovery. I will continue to give my all, hoping to bring excitement—not pain—to the ring.”
