Stone Cold Steve Austin may not be done with WWE yet.
According to a new report from Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Austin may be considering a return to the ring. The legend, who retired in 2003 and then briefly un-retired to face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania in 2022, was actually approached about a new match two years ago.
The report mentions that Austin was asked about potentially facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, in 2023. The match didn’t happen, but Austin has reportedly “intimated” that he might not be fully done in the ring. Sources close to Fightful said that Austin specifically told them he might have “one more” match in him.
During WrestleMania 41, Austin came out to loud cheers on Night 1, riding an ATV down to the ring. Reports at time said Austin was pitched an actual match that he declined, as well. However, it seems like the appearance might spur him back into the ring. Fightful also noted that several WWE stars have pitched facing Austin in a match in recent years, with CM Punk’s name being tossed around internally.
