AEW Collision Results: Review, Grades, Card For June 21

Our AEW Collision results for tonight include an All Star 8-Woman Tag Match, Swerve Strickland in action against Shane Taylor, and we’ll hear from “Timeless” Toni Storm.

AEW Collision Card

The announced card is as follows:

  • All Star 8-Woman Tag Match: Thunder Rosa, Queen Aminata, and TayJay vs. Athena, Thekla, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford
  • Swerve Strickland vs. Shane Taylor
  • Jon Moxley vs. AR Fox
  • Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Daniel Garcia, and Bandido vs. FTR and Protoshita
  • We’ll hear from AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm

AEW Collision Results:

Tonight’s episode of AEW Collision kicked off with Stokely Hathaway backstage hyping tonight’s tag match that will see FTR and Protoshita take on Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Daniel Garcia, and Bandido.

Jon Moxley (w/ Wheeler Yuta) vs. AR Fox

  • The finish of the match saw Jon Moxley lock AR Fox in a rear-naked choke to win the match via passout.

Winner: Jon Moxley

After the match, Moxley hits Fox with the Death Rider before Yuta hands him a microphone. Moxley says he’s watched Hangman Page piss away his opportunities and god given gifts for years. Mox says he doesn’t have the same patience the fans have for him, and he’s sick of waiting for him to get his act together. Moxley says he’s sick of Hangman’s crybaby crap. Mox says at All In he’s gonna run Hangman out of this sport for good.

Grade: B-

This match was way too short to be anything of interest. The promo afterward wasn’t great either. I can’t even begin to express how ready I am for this Moxley title reign to end. It’s time for AEW to begin a new chapter next month with All In and leave this man’s World Title runs in the rearview mirror for the foreseeable future.

Adam Cole is backstage with Roderick Strong, Bandido, and Daniel Garcia. He hypes their tag match, which is coming up next.

Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Daniel Garcia, and Bandido vs. FTR and Protoshita (w/ Stokely Hathaway)

  • The finish of the match saw FTR hit Roderick Strong with a Shatter Machine to score the pinfall victory for their team.

Winners: FTR and Protoshita

After the match, FTR and Protoshita continue their attack until The Outrunners hit the ring to make the save. FTR is shocked that The Outrunners aren’t siding with them.

Grade: B+

Much better match than the opener, and we got a fun match out of these eight guys. They love doing the multi-man tag matches on Collision, but when they are good… there’s nothing wrong with that.

Athena’s team probably isn’t on the same page…

Backstage, we get promos from both sets of women’s teams for tonight’s All Star 8-Woman Tag match. While we heard from all four members of the babyface team. Athena spoke for her team and ran down her partners in the process. Megan Bayne looked less than pleased, but Penelope Ford attempted to calm her down.

Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Shane Taylor (w/ Shane Taylor Promotions)

  • The finish of the match saw Swerve Strickland hit Shane Taylor with the House Call to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Swerve Strickland

Grade: A-

We don’t see Shane Taylor nearly enough on the AEW side of things. This was a really fun match. Swerve and Shane work really well together, and I’d love to see another match between these two in the future.

The Timeless one speaks…

Toni Storm is on the stage in her Carmen Sandiego attire. Storm says she’s disappointed in Mercedes, stating she said weeks ago they would have the biggest women’s match of all time, yet all she has done is eat steak, play on her phone, and try to kiss her.

Storm points out that Mercedes isn’t here because she just won another title in Mexico and questions if her championship is just another title to her. Toni says she’s not just another motherf*cker, and if Mercedes takes her lightly, she’s going to eat her alive.

Storm says she believes Mercedes is the greatest of all time, but that is something she was never meant to be. Toni runs down what she believes she is, and we’re just not gonna recap that here for obvious reasons.

Toni ends it by telling Mercedes that she needs to beat her, but Mercedes needs to kill her. Some of the lines in this promo, you’re just gonna have to check out for yourself. Because damn…

Hologram, Willow Nightingale, and Mark Briscoe vs. MxM Collection and Taya Valkyrie (w/ Johnny TV)

  • The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe hit Mansoor with the Froggybo to score the pinfall victory.

Winners: Hologram, Willow Nightingale, and Mark Briscoe

Grade: B+

Fun mixed tag match. Not sure what putting Hologram into the Conglomeration does for him, but whatever. Enjoyable match nonetheless.

Is Kris Statlander a future Death Rider?

Kris Statlander is backstage with Lexy Nair, who asks her about Willow. Statlander says they aren’t going to do this every week and says she wants nothing to do with it. Wheeler Yuta shows up and tries to get in Statlander’s head again. Statlander says she doesn’t want to hear it and throws I’m into a wall.

Statlander turns around and bumps into Jon Moxley. She looks terrified. Moxley tells her not to let anyone tell her who she is and what she’s worth. Moxley walks away, and Yuta chases after him as Statlander ponders what she was told.

We have to hear from Don Callis on AEW Collision… but things take a shocking turn!

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out the Don Callis Family. Don Callis brings out Kazuchika Okada, and they play the footage of the contract signing from a couple of weeks back.

Callis asks Omega how it feels to know he and Okada have teamed up against him. Callis says Omega is in a hospital bed right now, and he probably won’t make it to All In. Don says if Omega makes it All In, he’ll be truly alone because he doesn’t have any friends left.

Mark Briscoe comes out and tells Don Callis to shut the hell up. Briscoe says he’s Omega’s friend, but he’s not his only friend, and he brings out Kota Ibushi. Briscoe attacks Archer, and Ibushi goes to the ring and takes down Josh Alexander.

Ibushi faces off with Okada in the ring, and they start slugging it out. Ibushi gets the better of him, and Okada rolls out.

No one saw this segment coming…

We come back from commercial break, and The Workhorsemen are brawling with Bryan Keith and Big Bill at ringside. Bill and Keith win the brawl. Bill asks for a microphone but is interrupted by The Patriarchy. Christian Cage says he has a problem with Bill and Keith wasting his airtime when he has an important announcement.

Cage says Wayne has been wrestling at a god like pace and that has everything to do with his guidance. Cage says Wayne is the youngest champion this company has ever seen. Christian says it’s time for Nick to start walking beside him instead of behind him, and they will now start a journey to become the first father and son tag team champions.

Big Bill says Wayne might be his adoptive son because if what he’s heard about Mother Wayne is true, Nick’s father could be anyone. Cage questions if Bill is drinking again and calls himself the face of TNT now and forever.

Ricochet joins the commentary team for the next match.

JetSpeed vs. Gates of Agony

  • The finish of the match saw Kevin Knight hit the UFO Splash on Bishop Kaun to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: JetSpeed

Grade: A-

Yeah, this match ruled. Easily the best showing for Gates of Agony in forever. Ricochet being on commentary, hopefully, is the future tease that Kaun and Loa will be in his stable. But I guess we’ll see soon enough.

Thekla, Megan Bayne, Penelope Ford, and Athena (w/ Billie Starkz) vs. TayJay, Queen Aminata, and Thunder Rosa

  • The finish of the match saw Red Velvet toss Athena the ROH Women’s Title, which she used to hit Thunder Rosa when the referee’s back was turned to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: Athena, Thekla, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford

Grade: A-

Athena and Billie Starkz leave with Red Velvet as AEW Collision goes off the air.

AEW Collision Review:

I feel like tonight’s show got stronger as the night went on. A lot of cool things happened in the second hour, and we got some great wrestling throughout the evening. The show finished strong with the women’s division, and I think overall, tonight’s show was pretty good.

Grade: B+
