Elijah Injured At This Week’s NXT Tapings, Has Surgery

Elijah went down with an injury at this week’s NXT television tapings.

Elijah was in action on this week’s episode of NXT, teaming with Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura against TNA World Champion (and NXT star) Trick Williams, AJ Francis, and Wes Lee. According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), Elijah left that match with an arm injury.

The outlet reports that Elijah, formerly known as Elias in WWE, tore his triceps during the six-man tag match. It was noted that the injury happened as Elijah came off the top rope and did a double knees to the chest move. The tear happened after he broke the landing with his arms.

It was also noted that TNA’s lead ringside physician was actually on-site visiting and helped NXT’s medical team in assessing the injury. Elijah already had surgery to repair the injury.

F4WOnline.com’s Bryan Alvarez also reported the injury to Elijah, noting that he didn’t use his injured arm for the rest of the match, but “somehow nobody noticed it.”

A timetable for his return was not given. Typically, torn triceps muscles will keep people sidelined for several weeks or months, depending on the severity. Elijah was heavily advertised for this weekend’s TNA TV tapings in Pittsburgh, where he is from. He was also scheduled to do media appearances earlier this week.

What else happened on WWE NXT?

Despite the injury, Elijah, Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura still picked up the win. The finish was also surprising, as it saw Inamura surprise Williams, the reigning TNA World Champion, with a big splash for the win.

This week’s show also featured Jordynne Grace vs. Lola Vice in a WWE Evolution Eliminator Match. The main event segment saw Blake Monroe’s contract signing. However, that was interrupted by Fatal Influence, who put her through a table to end the show.
