A couple of weeks ago, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Carlito’s WWE contract came to an end. The Stamford-based promotion did not want to renew his contract. Recently, the Puerto Rican star shared what was different in the Triple H regime when compared to the Vince McMahon regime.
Carlito was a special guest on the Busted Open Radio Podcast. During the episode, the former WWE Superstar shared that it was weird for him to come into work happy. He said it was different from Vince McMahon’s regime, as back then, the wrestlers were walking on eggshells, since there was no other major wrestling promotion.
“It was weird showing up to work happy. You know what I mean? You [Bully Ray] were there when I was there [the first time.] I mean, I don;t know it was just miserable showing up to work… It’s just all the tension and all the old school bullsh*t. And those different, not to knock on Vince [McMahon], he seemed to have sort of his things, you got to do this thing, and then next day it changed. You know, certain rules and just stupidity. They liked people walking on eggshells. You know, because it was the only game in town. And they let the boys know that.
“I think now they do know, with AEW being around too, it’s helped, you know, they know they can’t bully because there are other places that people could go. That’s added too. But, I think Hunter’s done a good job too of just cleaning all that crap out. And it helps this new generation, you can’t get away with certain things before, you know what I mean? And I just like that a bunch of this BS is gone now. People just go there, show up, and do their work,” Carlito said.
