The Young Bucks returned during tonight’s AEW Summer Blockbuster, and interrupted a highly anticipated match.
During tonight’s show, fans were excited to see Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland run it back again. Toward the end of the match, though, things got chaotic. Strickland hit a Vertebreaker and a House Call on Ospreay, and was setting up for a double stomp. The 30-minute time limit ran out, though, resulting in the match ending.
Strickland called for a sudden death match to take place, but The Death Riders music hit to interrupt that. The group came down to the ring, and that’s when the Young Bucks appeared, ambushing Swerve. The duo attacked Strickland before handcuffing him to the ropes and then showed off shoes studded with thumbtacks. While taunting Strickland and getting ready to hit a superkick, Ospreay jumped in front of the kick, taking it for Swerve.
A stunned Strickland could only watch as officials tended to Ospreay. The Bucks also looked a bit shocked by the moment, and didn’t do anything to Swerve as they left the ring.
