AJ Francis Credited For Role In New Business Model For TNA

AJ Francis nearly pioneered a groundbreaking and interesting business model for TNA.

A recent thread on Twitter/X by former TNA marketing executive Romy Glazer revealed that AJ Francis wasn’t just joking about his role in TNA+’s rise last year. Francis played a pivotal part in shaping a bold new vision for the company’s digital future.

Following winning the Digital Media Title, AJ proposed a unique idea. His idea was to allow Twitch streamers and wrestling content creators to host official watch-alongs of entire TNA shows with their fanbase.

AJ connected TNA to 20 dedicated creators last summer, just as the NXT/TNA partnership was beginning. Reactions were strong, and this helped build a buzz quickly for their shows. PCO, a Canadian wrestler, also helped with TNA Slammiversary, which took place in Montreal with online hype. The show also saw PCO winning the TNA Digital title from Francis.

Glazer posed the question: what if creators became official rights holders, not just collaborators? She mentioned it would have reimagined how wrestling content could be shared and monetized. She also said by empowering creators, the company could have built deeper fan engagement and offered an alternative to traditional TV.

However, the plan didn’t fully launch, the concept still has the potential in the world of professional wrestling. AJ Francis’ idea may not have fully launched, but it helped draw major attention to TNA. In recent months, the company has gained momentum through rising fan attendance and storytelling. However, it’s possible this could still happen in the future.
