Matt Riddle talks about the original format for EVOLVE, and how it compares to WWE’s version of the programming.
Former WWE superstar Matt Riddle recently competed for CCW at VIVO! in Miami. The Original Bro spoke to Roman Show about his experience at the event before giving his thoughts on the original and current versions of EVOLVE.
“EVOLVE back then, you know, was more of a sports style of professional wrestling in a world where professional wrestling was dominated by sports entertainment,” Riddle said. “EVOLVE was one of the hottest independent scenes and now EVOLVE is basically WWE. They bought the library when I was there. So, yeah, it is still growing and still kicking, and it is awesome to see.”
WWE EVOLVE crowns inaugural Women’s Champion
WWE launched EVOLVE earlier this year to serve as NXT’s developmental brand. WWE EVOLVE crowned their first-ever Women’s Champion on the May 28 episode. Kali Armstrong made history by besting Kendal Grey, Kylie Rae and Wendy Choo in a fatal four-way match to become the inaugural WWE EVOLVE Women’s Champion.
The men’s division will see the crowning of the inaugural champion next week when Edris Enofe, Keanu Carver, Jackson Drake, and Sean Legacy battle for the WWE EVOLVE Championship. Sean Legacy is fresh off a major win on 5/20 episode of NXT when he bested Ashante Adonis and Je’Von Evans in a triple threat match.
