Tony Khan shocked many wrestling fans on Sunday when he had Hangman Page go over Will Ospreay at AEW Double or Nothing.
Hangman Page will be the one to challenge Jon Moxley at All In: Texas for the AEW World Championship. But how did this decision come about?
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Page and Ospreay were informed early on that weekend who was going over in the AEW Double or Nothing main event.
Prior to that, both Page and Ospreay each pushed for the other man to win the main event. The backstage atmosphere was in a state of shock following the match, as many believed Ospreay would be the one to go over.
Jon Moxley, who Page will now face at All In, also leaned towards the idea of Page going over on Sunday. It’s unknown if Moxley’s wishes had any bearing on Tony Khan‘s final decision.
It will be interesting to see if Page will be the man to defeat Jon Moxley in Texas this summer or if Khan has decided to go with the original plan of Darby Allin being the man to dethrone Moxley later in the year.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on the future of the AEW World Championship as it becomes available.
