Report: AEW’s Original Plans For Darby Allin Revealed

What did AEW have planned for Darby Allin in 2025?

Darby Allin is currently on the climb to the top of Mount Everest. But what would All Elite Wrestling look like right now if Allin were on the road with the company instead?

The former multi-time TNT Champion was written off AEW programming at the end of December when he was tossed down a flight of stairs by the Death Riders. Allin hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since. We now have some information on what the company’s plans were for Allin had he been back on television by now.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), AEW’s initial hopes were that Darby Allin would be back on the road in time for this year’s Owen Hart Cup. This would have led to a featured match for Allin at Double or Nothing.

A typical climb of Mount Everest takes anywhere from six to ten weeks. So, a return to AEW by Double or Nothing looks very unlikely.

Previous rumors and reports suggested that AEW wanted Allin to be the one to dehtrone Jon Moxley. With the company’s initial hopes for the timeline of his return, it appears these two things could have lined up.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on Allin’s Mount Everest climb as it becomes available.
