Macho Man Randy Savage Referenced On ‘Poker Face’

One of the latest episodes of the Peacock murder mystery comedy-drama Poker Face makes reference to WWE legend “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

The Savage reference occurs in Season 2, Episode 2 of Poker Face, titled “Last Looks.”. In the episode, Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) visits a funeral for Greta, someone involved in a mystery she’s trying to solve. The funeral attendees, all bikers, mourn the loss of their fellow biker. In the scene, a biker tells Cale that they met Greta the night Savage died, and drank in his honor.

Savage died in 2011, when the legendary WWE star suffered a tragic heart attack while driving near his home along with his wife, Lynn Payne. Payne survived the crash and didn’t sustain many injuries. A subsequent autopsy of Savage found that he had an enlarged heart and advanced coronary artery disease.

Poker Face premiered in 2023, and became a smash hit for Peacock. Starring Lyonne, the series follows Charlie Cale, a casino worker who has an innate ability to detect lies. The series’ first season earned Lyonne an Emmy nomination for her role.

The second season premiered on May 8, 2025, with three episodes premiering. New episodes will premiere weekly on the streaming service.
