AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with the All Star Eight-Man tag match.

Mark Briscoe, Kevin Knight, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Kenny Omega vs. Ricochet, the Young Bucks, and Kazuchika Okada

  • The finish of the match saw Kazuchika Okada hit Mark Briscoe with the Rain Maker to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Kazuchika Okada, the Young Bucks, and Ricochet

Grade: A+

What a beautiful way to kick off tonight’s show. I kinda figured this match would get a lot of time since there were only three matches announced for tonight’s show prior to Dynamite going on the air. This delivered in a big way and set a tremendous tone for the rest of the evening. Loved it!

Will The Hurt Syndicate give MJF three thumbs up?

Backstage, The Hurt Syndicate beat up some enhancement talents. MVP and Shelton Benjamin make another pitch to Bobby Lashley to let MJF in The Hurt Syndicate. MVP says MJF will be beneficial to them and if he screws them over they will hurt him more than he’s ever been hurt before. Lashley seemed down with that idea.

AEW Trios Champions The Opps vs. Nick Comoroto, Rhett Titus, and Myles Hawkins

  • The finish of the match saw Powerhouse Hobbs hit Myles Hawkins with a spinebuster to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: The Opps

After the match, the Death Riders attack The Opps. Samoa Joe takes care of Jon Moxley at ringside, but it allows Claudio Castagnoli to hit the Neutralizer on the chair on Katsuyori Shibata like he did to HOOK several weeks ago.

Samoa Joe gets on the microphone and says Moxley wants to come out there and act like a boss but when they start to throw hands he acts like a little bitch. Joe says Mox begged for him, and all he’s trying to do is give him what he wants. Joe says if he’s going to face Mox for the AEW World Championship, it will take place inside a steel cage.

Grade: B+

I don’t typically put a grade on squash matches, but this one had a little bit of length, and the aftermath storyline set up an important stipulation for the AEW World Title match next month. We all know Mox will retain, but a steel cage match should be entertaining.

A sit-down interview with Mercedes Moné

Renee Paquette has a sit-down interview backstage with Mercedes Moné. It’s basically a hype segment for Moné’s match with Jamie Hayter at Double or Nothing in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Moné mocks Hayter’s “Scooby Doo style” and says a champion can’t look like a cartoon character.

The Patriarchy is backstage with Renee Paquette. They are interrupted by Jay Lethal, who challenges Nick Wayne for a shot at the Ring of Honor Television Title. Wayne tries to make excuses, but Christian Cage accepts the match for him. Cage tells Wayne that if he wants to be a champion to get his head in the game.

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match: Timeless Toni Storm (w/ Luther) vs. Miyu Yamashita

  • The finish of the match saw Toni Storm hit Miyu Yamashita with Storm Zero to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Timeless Toni Storm

After the match, Mercedes Moné comes out on the stage. Moné says after she beats Jamie Hayter at Double or Nothing, she’s coming for what she deserves, the AEW Women’s World Championship. This brings out Hayter, who attacks Moné, and the TBS Champion runs away.

Grade: A-

This was a very good match. I’m admittedly not super familiar with Yamashita’s work, and I was really impressed by what I saw from her tonight. I’m not sure what her future is with AEW, but I’d like to see more of her on Dynamite if possible. Another impressive victory for Storm.

Is MJF the newest member of The Hurt Syndicate?

The Hurt Syndicate comes out to the ring. MVP asks MJF to join them in the ring. MJF comes out and puts over Shelton Benjamin and MVP. MJF starts to prod at Bobby Lashley about his car ride in, but MVP shuts it down and asks for the thumbs up. Lashley once again gives a thumbs down, and MJF is annoyed.

MJF says he’s sick of Lashley’s shit and wants to know exactly what he wants. Friedman mocks him for being bald and asks him if he wants some Rogaine. Lashley snaps and grabs MJF and drags him into the corner. Lashley says they hurt people, and if he wants to impress him, go hurt someone. MJF begs Lashley off and says okay.

We get a video package hyping the new pairing of FTR and Stokely Hathaway.

Ring of Honor World Television Championship: Nick Wayne (w/ The Patriarchy) vs. Jay Lethal

  • The finish of the match saw Nick Wayne hit Jay Lethal with a Fisherman Buster to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still Ring of Honor World Television Champion, Nick Wayne

After the match, Christian Cage takes the title from Nick Wayne and puts the title around Wayne’s waist.

Grade: B+

Solid match. Didn’t expect this one going into the night, but it was a nice piece of business. Cage slowly but surely lets his guard down around Wayne to make The Patriarchy turning on him all the more impactful. It should be a great moment when Copeland returns to save his former best friend.

Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament Semi-Finals Match: Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis and Lance Archer) vs. Hangman Page

  • The finish of the match saw Hangman Page hit Kyle Fletcher with a Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Hangman Page

Grade: A

Hangman Page celebrates his victory in the ring as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

This was an excellent show from top to bottom. They kicked things off with the best eight-man tag I’ve ever seen and ended with a great main event in the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. There wasn’t a bad thing on this show. I don’t think the show overall was as great as last week’s, but it was still really good. This show is on a hot streak lately, and I hope it continues for many months to come.

Grade: A-
