AEW Collision Results:

After an absolutely incredible basketball game, we’re here! Swerve Strickland is kicking off the show, and he’s quickly interrupted by The Young Bucks. His planned match for Blake Christian is happening faster than he thought…right now! Swerve is clearly not ready or dressed for a match, but out comes Christian.

Swerve Strickland vs. Blake Christian

  • With the EVPs watching on from ringside, Blake Christian nearly does enough to get a win here. However, it is Swerve’s house, and he comes out with a win. Strickland wins after hitting the Big Pressure.

Winner – Swerve Strickland

After the match, Strickland is taunting the Young Bucks, and is eventually attacked by the group. Kenny Omega is here to make the save, though! Omega comes running out and cleans the ring of the Bucks, and he and Strickland fist bump after.

Grade: B+

A pretty boring match overall, but a fun swerve (no pun intended) on the planned match. Omega/Strickland feuding with the Bucks is going to result in some awesome segments over the next few weeks, as well.

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match

Toni Storm vs. Queen Aminata

  • After an incredible back-and-forth bout, Queen Aminata couldn’t pull out the win. This one ended after Storm hit her finisher late in the match, ending any shot of Aminata earning another match for the title.

Winner – Toni Storm

Grade: C+

This felt like nothing more than a tune up match of sorts for Storm, especially with her eventual bout against the women’s tournament winner coming up.

It’s time for another Max Caster open challenge

Max is here and once again getting the crowd riled up. He keeps trying to lead them in a chant about how he’s the best wrestler alive, and asks someone to come out. Unfortunately for Caster, that someone is Hologram.

Max Caster vs. Hologram

  • Quite predictably, this one doesn’t go well for Max Caster. He gets some good moves in, but Hologram eventually ends things with a vicious Portal Bomb for the win.

Winner – Hologram

Grade: C

The Max Caster open challenge bit is a good one, if at least for the chance to showcase some of the underrated talent AEW has in its roster. Caster sells everything incredibly, too, so that’s always fun.

Tornado tag team match

Top Flight vs. CRU

  • Top Flight and CRU put on quite a show here. Due to the tornado tag aspect of the match, there was action everywhere and all the time, but eventually, CRU got the win after utilizing some help from Leila Grey. Grey was inadvertently knocked off the apron after trying to get involved, and Top Flight was too preoccupied with that, allowing CRU to get the win.

Winner – CRU

Grade: B-

Not a bad match whatsoever! This was a lot of fun, and the ending was just crazy enough to work. Some awesome spots here, including a use of the good old kendo stick.

Anna Jay dominates in return

Anna Jay vs. Taylor Gainey

  • Well, this is over immediately, Anna Jay absolutely dominates Gainey, and wins pretty much as soon as the bell rung.

Winner – Anna Jay

After the match, Jay was celebrating when Penelope Ford showed up and ambushed the star. She continued attacking Jay as Megan Bayne came down to the ring, setting up what looks to be Jay’s next rival.

Grade: C-

A squash match with nothing super substantial happening after is rough. Jay and Bayne will be an awesome feud, but it just feels like this could have been set up in a much better way.

ROH World Championship on the line

Bandido (c) vs. Dralistico

  • These two went at it immediately, and traded some awesome takedowns throughout the match. Dralistico was fired up the entire time, but unfortunately was unable to score the win. In the end, Bandido hit his 21plex for the win, and retained his title.

Winner – Bandido

Grade: B-

Really awesome match between two awesome superstars. Hitting a backflip off of a person was an absolutely wild spot, we need more of these types of matches.

Big Bill and Bryan Keith are backstage and send a message to the Gates of Agony. They want to face them in a match after Gates of Agony’s recent antics. Big Bill says he’d like to see them try and make a name for themselves at their expense.

Rush and AR Fox face off in singles action

Rush vs. AR Fox

  • Fox looked absolutely done in for early on here but makes a spirited comeback late. Unfortunately, Rush pretty much dominates this one from the start, and then ends it with a running knee strike.

Winner – Rush

Grade: C

This felt a bit unecessary, all things considered, but it was still fun to see the two go at it for a bit, and there was some fun spots outside of the ring.

FTR and Paragon clash to close the show

FTR vs. Paragon

  • FTR and Paragon put on a hell of a show to close out tonight’s episode. It’s pretty clear these two teams are destined for a bigger feud, and all four men brought a ton of emotion to things. The match comes to an end after FTR hits a spike piledriver on Kyle O’Reilly for the win.

Winner – FTR

After the match, Adam Cole comes out to try and help his friend, but FTR corners him. Daniel Garcia comes running out with a crowbar, and chases off both FTR and Stokely Hathaway. Garcia then takes to the mic, and says that he’s going to make sure he torments FTR until he gets what he’s looking for: revenge.

Grade: A-

What a close to the show! FTR and Paragon’s ongoing feud is shaping up to be incredible, and with all the star power involved, it seems impossible for it not to live up to the hype.

AEW Collision Review:

What an up and down show, wow. Some awesome matches here but also just a lot of stuff that probably didn’t need its own moments in the ring. FTR and Paragon were obviously the highlight, but Bandido and Dralistico put on a show, and Swerve Strickland’s opening segment was also a lot of fun.

Grade: B+
