Randy Orton made a bold statement on RAW by hitting the new WWE Champion, John Cena, with a surprise RKO just one night after WrestleMania 41.
Cena had claimed his historic 17th WWE World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Cody Rhodes. Due to interference from rapper Travis Scott. The win allowed Cena to surpass the previous record for most world title reigns held by WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
At the WrestleMania 41 post-show press conference, Cena dismissed media questions as refused to offer clear answers. Instead, he urged all to watch RAW, where he vowed to ruin professional wrestling as its new champion.
During RAW, Cena celebrated his championship victory. He reminded fans that he only has 27 appearances left on his retirement tour. As he urged the crowd to take a photo of what he called “the last real champion,” Randy Orton quietly came up behind him while Cena posed with his title.
Orton confronted his longtime rival and cut Cena’s celebration short with a devastating RKO, making a powerful statement. While fans were left wondering how Orton made his way into the ring undetected in the dimly lit arena.
Footage has surfaced revealing the answer. The video shows WWE’s crew inspecting and setting up the ring. A figure in a black hoodie, believed to be Orton, is seen quietly checking the ring and slipping underneath ring without drawing attention.
While this footage appears to confirm how Orton got under the ring. Another video has also emerged showing how, in true Viper fashion, he perfectly set up the unsuspecting champion for the RKO.
Randy Orton has three-word response to RKOing John Cena on WWE RAW
After delivering the RKO to his former rival, Orton made it clear that his sights are now set on the WWE Championship. He also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to send a three-word message to John Cena, “Hello, old friend.”
