Trick Williams Reacts To Making History With All-Black Talent Main Event At NXT Stand & Deliver

Trick Williams wants to lead by example.

The main event of this year’s NXT Stand & Deliver event featured a triple threat match between Oba Femi, Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans. The match was historic, as it was the first time three Black men (four, including referee Dallas Irvin) main evented a NXT premium live event.

Trick Williams spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WrestleMania After Dark about what the moment meant to him. He also noted that he made history last year with Carmelo Hayes at Stand & Deliver 2024, which was the first time two Black men main evented a WWE or NXT pay-per-view / premium live event since SummerSlam 2001.

“Representation matters. Everybody should feel represented, everybody should be able to turn on their television set and feel inspired by what they see,” Williams said. “They should feel like their dreams are possible, that anybody can make it happen. So, I’m glad we were able to do that today, and same thing last year. Me and Melo made history, it was the first time since Booker T and The Rock did the same thing, so it was an honor.”

Trick was also asked what he learned about Je’Von Evans, who got a very favorable response from the fans in Las Vegas.

“That boy bouncy,” Trick said with a smile.
