Karrion Kross: If WWE Asked, I’d Be Randy Orton’s WrestleMania 41 Opponent ‘In A Heartbeat’

Karrion Kross isn’t sure what’s going to happen at WrestleMania 41, but he’s ready for a big opportunity, should it come his way.

Kross recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about his role in the independent short film Blue Evening. During the conversation, Kross was asked about fans pushing for him to be the new opponent for Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41. Orton is currently without a match due to Kevin Owens’ real-life neck injury putting him on the shelf. Many performers have thrown their hats in to potentially face Orton, but Kross has seen an organic wave of support from his fans.

“It’s pretty amazing. I feel like, I am supposed to run with this and be like, ‘I should be there. I deserve it. Yeah!’ And totally take advantage of the moment. Honestly, I’m just very humbled,” Kross said, noting that he’s getting a lot of support despite not having as much time on WWE programming as other featured talent. “[They] know that I would be a good dance partner for him. And I will say that I will be.”

Karrion Kross credited Orton’s work for teaching him about timing while he was in NXT, and he has wanted to work with Orton since he broke into the wrestling business.

“This isn’t the first time this has happened. When I was in NXT and I was strapped up, people were fantasy booking Scarlett and I versus Bobby [Lashley] and MVP versus [Paul] Heyman and Roman [Reigns]. Then it was Bill Goldberg and then it was Bray Wyatt. But that hasn’t happened again since that time. It’s cool to be back here five years later, where the fans are creating this uproar online. And it’s organic, it wasn’t something that somebody baited.”

The organic part, Kross says, is what makes him feel appreciative and humbled. He pointed out that it’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that Kevin Owens is really injured, but he’d be ready to step in if WWE calls his name next weekend.

“Sometimes people just throw their own two cents in there, ‘How about me?’ And there was nothing there to begin with. Which is cool, sometimes you got to shoot your shot. But that wasn’t the case this time. They really want to see me do it. And look, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Kross noted. “I’m still really upset hearing about what happened to Kevin. I was kind of hoping he was going to pop out of a box and be like, ‘Gotcha!’ I was really hoping that was going to happen. And then, I wouldn’t even have been mad that he worked us all. But I don’t think that is the case.

“I don’t know who Randy’s opponent is going to be. But, if they asked me, I’d do it in a heartbeat,” Kross said. “And that would be crazy if that happened in Las Vegas. That’s where I got my break and that’s really still very much my home.”
