AEW President Tony Khan recently spoke about the possibility of Collision moving from Saturday to Thursday nights.
Dave Meltzer recently reported that AEW could potentially move Collision from Saturday to Thursday nights, as Warner Bros. Discovery lost the NBA TV rights. AEW has already decided to air Collision live on Thursday, April 17, instead of airing a taped episode on Saturday that would compete with WrestleMania 41.
TNT is calling the April 17 episode a “Spring Breakthru” special. It will take place at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston. The schedule change may be related to avoiding WWE’s biggest show of the year or due to a conflict with the NHL playoffs.
During the AEW Dynasty media call, Tony Khan answered a question about the future of Collision, especially with Warner Bros. Discovery’s NBA deal set to expire. When asked if that’s something he would consider, Khan said he’s open to what his partners want to do.
“I do think we’ve built great momentum on Saturdays. But I would be open to basically anything within reason if the network asked me to do. I am really very proud of the run we’re having. We’re having great shows right now, and we’ve had a long, sustained run.”
“We’re very close, just weeks away from becoming the longest-running weekly primetime professional wrestling show in the history of Turner Sports on TNT and TBS. And it’s a big deal and that run for Dynamite, that consistency, and particularly the hot run of shows recently. I think that’s also now extended into Collision, where we’ve had great episodes in 2025. And trying to build that same kind of great longevity and hoping Collision’s here for many, many years to come, just as Dynamite has been one of the most successful shows ever on the network.”
Tony Khan is open to AEW Collision schedule Change if WBD requests it
“I do think it’s really, really, very, very beneficial to us the great opportunities the network has given us. And I’m very grateful for Mr. Zaslav and all the great chances that we get to go after some of the top sports programming, which has delivered some of the best results in AEW’s history.”
“And I know that the network has a focused strategy for us, and I can’t say what the future holds, but I know Collision has done really, really well. So, you know, regarding your question, I think they’ve given us these great opportunities on Saturdays, and, if they think something makes sense. I will always be up to work with the network on anything, and I’m very, very grateful for their support.”
