Baron Corbin Doesn’t Like The Special Treatment Logan Paul Gets In WWE, But It’s ‘A Double-Edged Sword’

Baron Corbin gets candid about Logan Paul.

In 2022, social media sensation Logan Paul took his first official steps inside a professional wrestling ring at WWE WrestleMania 38. Since then, he has become a semi-regular fixture on WWE television. He also enjoyed one reign as United States Champion.

During a recent interview with The Ariel Helwani Show, former WWE star Baron Corbin (now known as Bishop Dyer) peeled back the curtain on his perception of Paul in the WWE locker room. Overall, Corbin applauds Paul for his eagerness and dedication to learning the craft of pro wrestling. At the same time, Corbin believes “The Maverick” has received special treatment, which allowed him to bypass NXT and WWE live events.

“He works hard, and he wants to go out and perform. I think some of the stuff he says probably has some truth. Some is part of the show, and some of it irritates me for the way he talks about the business,” Corbin said. “I know sometimes they’re just doing it on social media, but when they’re telling me how good they are, but they’re not in these tiny towns doing live events, hitting the road, I just don’t like those guys that get that super special treatment. It’s not like he earned it, working his way through NXT and getting on TV. He gets that treatment because of his stardom through social media and YouTube. So I think he’s handed a lot of things that I think there are more deserving talent of it. But he’s getting the views, so it’s a double-edged sword.”

“Like what do you do with a guy like that?” Corbin continued. “He works hard when he has big matches. They take guys out to Puerto Rico for him to train with and he wants to learn. He wants to get better. I can’t stand people who run around with an entourage. He’s always got an entourage. They’re nice people, but it just irritates me, seeing that backstage. But I think people respect the work that he brings to the table and the work he’s done to get his name where it is. I just think that I’m protective of this industry. And when outsiders come in like that with a gold spoon, or a platinum spoon, whatever spoon he’s eating off of, I struggle to really buy into it.”

Baron Corbin is still open to working with Logan Paul in the future

He doesn’t foresee a friendship blossoming between himself and Paul. However, Corbin is open to working with him in the future. In fact, he feels they would “tear the house down.” Additionally, Corbin recognizes Paul’s ability to make money, whether it’s in a wrestling ring or elsewhere.

“I like those guys in the middle of the card that are grinding it out to get better,” Corbin said. “And I want them to get more opportunities. I want everybody to be successful, and I want everybody to make money. When you just bring someone in from a different world and put them in front of those guys, I think I it’s hard for me to give you all my respect. I’ll appreciate what you do, but we’re not going to be buddies.”
