Speedball Mike Bailey is a big fan of the old Cartoon Network show, Adventure Time.
The latest All Elite Wrestling signee, Speedball Mike Bailey, posted a new Vlog this week. In the Vlog, Bailey chronicled his first match on AEW Dynamite last week against The Beast Mortos.
Bailey broke down the match in detail and revealed that the name of his new finishing move, the 540 spinning hook kick, was inspired by an episode of Adventure Time.
Speedball believes Adventure Time is one of the greatest pieces of cinema ever produced
“It’s actually my first time watching this back,” Speedball Mike Bailey admitted. “I didn’t get the chance to see it all the way through. It’s my first match, so of course, getting in the Speedball kicks was one of my huge priorities. What was crazy was before the match started getting those Speedball chants. The fact that people in AEW knew who I was, not just because I was there, but by my reputation as a pro wrestler, that felt awesome.
“Yeah, and then there’s no clip of it. But I won the match with a new finisher which is a 540 spinning hook kick. [It’s] going to be called once they say it on TV, but it’s too early to name it yet, but ‘Time Adventure.’ Which is a reference to the final episode of Adventure Time. Which is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest pieces of cinema ever produced.”
“Time Adventure” is the name of a song featured in the final episode of the series called “The Ultimate Adventure: Come Along With Me.” The entire Adventure Time catalog is available to stream now on Max (subscription required) or on Disney+ (with a Hulu subscription)
Bailey isn’t the only pro wrestler with a homage to the animation world, as Jordynne Grace paid tribute to a key Spongebob SquarePants character on NXT this week.
