STARDOM‘s Momo Watanabe sent NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné a message just hours after The CEO’s match at AEW All In.
NJPW previously announced that “The Black Peach” Momo Watanabe and “The CEO” Mercedes Moné would clash in the main event at their upcoming Capital Collision show for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. This matchup would mark the first time both women competed against each other in singles action. It will also be Mercedes’ first defense of her NJPW STRONG Women’s Title.
Some time after Mercedes’ TBS Championship defense against Britt Baker at All In, Momo Watanabe sent the champion a video message via NJPW’s official Twitter.
In the message, Momo claimed that Mercedes was scared of competing in Japan against her fellow H.A.T.E. members. “So how about I take that NJPW STRONG title so you don’t have to worry about Japan,” she sarcastically offered.
Momo Watanabe is not new to competing for and holding singles gold. She previously held the Wonder of Stardom Championship, a title she took from Io Shirai (now known as WWE’s IYO SKY) after winning the Cinderella Tournament in 2018. She is also in her third reign as one-half of the Goddess of Stardom Champions alongside Thekla.
NJPW Capital Collision will take place at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington this Friday, August 30. Who are you rooting for in the main event NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship match? Let us know your pick by sounding off in the comments section.
