Will Ospreay: I Still Struggle With Promos, But I’m Getting By; It’s Been A Learning Experience

Will Ospreay admits he still struggles with his promos in AEW.

The English star has grown into his character since going full-time in AEW in March. His slightly unorthodox promos have been a highlight of AEW Dynamite this year, and he’s quickly grown into the top babyface in the company.

Will Ospreay has admittedly struggled with ADHD and dyslexia his entire life, which impacted his promo skills. However, he thinks it is good to show people how vulnerable he, and how much he is learning on the job.

The Englishman spoke with the NY Post to promote AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. He revealed that he still struggles with promos, joking that he can “barely speak English”.

Will Ospreay added that the mistakes he does end up making actually endear him more to the audience. He has learnt everything on the job, and thinks showing people his vulnerabilities is a good thing for him.

“I still very much struggle with it.” Will Ospreay said. “I can barely speak English basically. It’s been a learning experience, but I feel like I’m not sucking at it. I think I’m doing OK. I think I’m getting by.”

He added, “I feel like it’s good to show people that I am learning these tricks and these trades. And I’m happy to be vulnerable and open in those moments and say, ‘Look, I know I’m not the best at this.’ I’ve never been trained to do this. I’ve never been trained to do this part of the job. They’re throwing me in the deep water, and I’m swimming somehow.”

“There is a part of me that every time I do make a grammar mistake or I’m not focusing, it’s almost endearing at this point because I don’t know what’s going on half the time.”
