Scott D’Amore: Mauro Ranallo Has Agreed To Be The Voice Of Maple Leaf Pro

Scott D’Amore has revealed that Mauro Ranallo is returning to wrestling to be the voice of his new promotion.

The former voice of NXT has been away from wrestling full-time since 2020. He left his role on Smackdown in 2017 after claims he was bullied by JBL backstage. He later joined NXT, where he spent three years as the head commentator before leaving.

Mauro Ranallo returned to wrestling in 2021 for a one-off appearance with TNA. He commentated their “Rebellion” pay per view main event between Kenny Omega and Rich Swann. He is now set to reunite with the Canadian as he launches his brand-new promotion.

Scott D’Amore recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where he discussed his new Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling promotion. He revealed Mauro Ranallo has agreed to be the “voice of Maple Leaf Pro”, saying he is one of the very best voices in sports.

He also revealed that Scott D’Amore met Mauro Ranallo 25 years ago in Stampede wrestling. It will be a happy reunion for both men when they put on their two-night Forged in Excellence event on October 19th and 20th later this year.

“To me, in wrestling and in sport, one of the most important things is the voice that’s leading you down this journey. The voice that is giving you this background and describing the action in-ring. Explaining it, providing that emotion as your tour guide on this journey is so important.

You need to have a great voice. I think we have one of the very best. Indisputably the best combat sports cross-genre announcer. Because Mauro Ranallo has agreed to be the voice of Maple Leaf Pro.”

“I mean, he’s the man. Mauro has got a passion for wrestling. I met Mauro probably close to 25 years ago in Stampede Wrestling. I was coming in as a heel to feud with Sabu. And he was the 20-21-year-old kid who was doing the play-by-play with Bad News Brown, and we connected then over the years. He loves wrestling. He’s the best. You turned on Showtime for any big boxing fight, or you turned on to watch a lot of the big MMA fights with Pride and everything, Mauro is that voice.”
