Pat McAfee is taking a break from his WWE commentary duties.
McAfee posted on his Instagram Stories that tonight’s episode of WWE RAW would be his last one for “a while.”
“Last Monday Night RAW Monday for a bit,” Pat McAfee said as he sang over “Losers” by Jelly Roll and Post Malone. “I’m very bummed out that tonight will be my last trip to that wonderful WWE family for a while. Alright, let’s have a day. I’m bummed out.
“Football season is starting, which is awesome, but the WWE family is where I’m supposed to be,” McAfee added. “And I know that, and I hope they do too.”
Outside of his duties in WWE, Pat McAfee is a full-time analyst on ESPN’s College Gameday. McAfee’s absence is not unexpected, as he also took an extended hiatus from WWE SmackDown in 2022. He made surprise appearances at the last two Royal Rumble events, and made a full-time return to commentary on RAW in January 2024.
Joe Tessitore will join WWE RAW on September 2, while Michael Cole will be moving over to SmackDown. WWE has not publicly announced any other changes to its commentary teams as of this time.
